Care in Congregations®

Publicizing and promoting activities

After the nuts and bolts of planning and preparing an activity have been taken care of, it is very important to focus on getting the word out—publicizing and promoting your activity for maximum benefit.

There are many ways of publicizing and promoting—from simple to elaborate, free to costly—and the possibilities are limitless! But if you're looking for some ideas to help you get going, here are just a few:

- Post the information on your congregation's website.
- Get bulletin inserts and posters from your Congregational Coordinator Administration section to use in your church and community.
- Contact your local radio and television stations for spots in their volunteer sections.
- Enlist your friends, family and coworkers to spread the word.
- Bring it up as a discussion topic in a Lutherans Online chat.

You can find these and many other ideas, tips, guidelines and information in the Visibility Toolkit, a resource created especially to help you build visibility for your activities (www.thrivent.com/visibility).

Remember, the more you get the word out about your activities, the more volunteers, donations and participation you're likely to have—and that means more help for your recipients.
