Linking Guidelines
- The content you want to link to should be appropriate, reputable, and accurate. It should not be used if a reasonable reader may find it objectionable (political, controversial, discriminatory, socially undesirable, or if it, promotes the use of alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, gambling, weapons or violence).
- The third party site will often have their own policies and process for granting permission to link to their site. Please review these policies before you make the link. Many websites (such as the New York Times) require you to enter into an agreement with them prior to linking to or using their content.
- To obtain permission from a site without a formal process stated, you should send an email to the Webmaster of the site you're interested in linking to. If the Webmaster or other party representing the external site does not respond to the email, you may link to the site, as long as there isn't anything on the site stating you can't link to them without permission (check the fine print in Terms of Use). A copy of the request and permission email should be kept on file.
- Use of the content must not infringe on any trademark, copyright, or patent rights.
- Do not use the linked web sites' trademark or service mark without prior approval of such site.
