GS Cooies

I noticed the Girl Scout cookies sold in my area are not on the survey (only a few are). I know we have something similar to the caramel ones, called samoas (I think) they are similar but the samoas have darker chocolate, delicious.

Cookies...

I live on the border between two different GS Councils, and they sometimes have different cookies available! That surprised me the first time.

I also have to avoid them due to diet.

Personally, I think they should list the serving size on the Thin Mints as "One Box" --it's so easy to treat them like Pez candy: open the top of the wrapper, push one in your mouth, and push up the rest from the bottom...

They freeze well. You don't have to eat them right away. The girls do get some experience at fund raising and sales. Properly done there are other training objectives accomplished other than fund raising.

$.35 of each box goes to the troup. I think I'll just give them a donation this year, as I'm on a diet too. And they won't have to find me to deliver them and collect the money.

Girl Scout cookies

What is the price of Girl Scout cookies this year? I think they were $3.50 a box for about 10 cookies last year. Still we always buy a fes boxes from the Scouts at church. I will ask one of the mothers one day if they know how much of th eprice of a box goes to the troop.

Girl Scout Cookies

I LOVE Girl Scout Cookies!!! But alas, I'm on a diet so no cookies for me this year. But knowing I'm a few pounds short of having lost 50 pounds is reward enough to not buy any. :-)

Where can I find proof of where the funds from buying these cookies go?

Can anyone help?

That is the same way I feel, also with boy scouts. I donate direct to the group in my neighborhood.

The same goes with all donations, since I found out, that the head of the Red Cross gets $250,000.00 + a year.
But that is another story.

Have a blessed week.

Girl Scout Cookies

You did not give the option of not buying any cookies, so I had to put my favorite one in order to post a comment. I use to buy lots of cookies until I had a daughter involved in Girl Scouts and discovered that only pennies of each box sold gets back to the local girls. Most of the proffits go to administration and head salaries. I feel this is a case of using children to raise fund to support adult jobs and am very much against it!!!!! If you really want to support your local girl scouts ask to make a cash donation to the group itself.
