Licorice

Licorice is the best. I love black jelly beans, Nibs, the candy coated. Just don't hand me that strawberrry or cherry or any of that stuff that is made to look like twists of black licorice. I would love to try that ice cream!!!!!

Licorice

I Love licorice!! When I went to Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma WA, my roommate and I would have licorice "feeds". I still remember those time with great fondness. That's a good many years ago. Now the need to watch what I eat robs me of the liberty to eat many food I enjoy.

KK, I would love to experience the licorice ice cream in Finland. Sounds heavenly!

Star Anise

Real licorice is made with star anise seeds. The fake plasticky stuff is probably exactly that!
I suppose this is weird, but although I can't stand licorice, even the real stuff, I love to eat the star anise seeds. They come in a woody looking pod with the seeded parts all grouped around the center like flower petals or points of a star, and you break the pod open to get the seeds out.
Maybe it's just the sticky, chewy candy part that I don't like!

licorice

What bugs me is how raspberry vines, etc, are labeled licorice. Even how the cheapy plastic type BLACK vines are labeled licorice! Uff-da!

Real licorice is wonderful stuff, but ya gotta watch how much you eat of it. It tends to have a laxitive effect, as well as having effects on blood chemicals like salts, I seem to recall.

Licorice

I love black licorice, and when I traveled to Finland I found the best ice cream ever, it had a black licorice swirl in vanilla ice cream...like America has fudge swirl, it was a swirl of soft black licorice. The best ice cream i ever had.
