gas prices

I was in Kenya, Africa and England last June and July of 2006. At that time the comparable price of gas was over $10.00 per gallon. So, I feel real fortunate to live in the U.S.

Gas Prices

So what has the minimum wage gained for the worker. They still can't afford to drive to work. The gas tax in Ohio sure hasn't come down, and this also gives the state more revenue. It's a shame that people on a fixed income can't even take a joy ride anymore. Some that I know can not even afford the gas to Dr. appointments and Church. Sad state of affairs, here in America.

Then it's revolution time!

It's time we took action, folks. And in this case, the action we need to take is to reduce our fuel usage. Hybrid cars are a great thing, but for those who can't afford them, let's start finding other ways to cut back.
We could take public transport where and when it's available. We could walk or bike on short trips (within a mile of home). We could revive the old WWII slogan, "Is this trip -really- necessary?", and then follow it. We could set our AC thermostats higher (or not use them at all, at more moderate temperatures...I know from experience that a box fan uses about 1/40th the electricity of the average window unit), and our furnace thermostats lower...
What this all means is sacrificing a bit of comfort for the greater good. Anybody wanna try it?

Gas-new tech

Yes, gas prices are high. We have the new Civic Hybrid, the V4 engine that goes like the V6 and fr. home to the Tappan Zee Bridge in NY,
the car was averaging 49.25 miles/gal-straight way, flat, (55-60 MPH)-Wow. The fed tax credit for 2007 cars-Honda was $2100-form 8910 IRS. Our son attends Univ. of MD near Wash, DC and the campus uses"flexcars"-the hybrids. Roomy car-5 seater, no pushbutton ignition as in Toyota, but still the car placed #1.-silence at the light bec. it is on electric.
Car is Gas motor, electric enhanced.
Have fun at the Auto Shows (admission $12)-lots of new tech.

Gas Prices

Yes, my friend.... you've discovered one of the many DOWNSIDES to unbridled capitalism. The market will pay what the market will bear, and we, the poor saps at the pump, will pay anything for the precious petrol.

What's the solution? It sure isn't found in letting that same unbridled capitalism continue to run amuck under control of Big Oil. What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results!

Gas prices

There is simply no reason to pay so much for gasoline. Gas in Iraq has gone up to 42 cents per gallon. We are being taken advatage ofin this country. We are forced to pay what the market will allow.
