Well,
then Dan... get thee a profile on Singles Seeking - and find some single
Lutheran gals who have profiles up. I know I'm not the only one who's
"hiding" there!
In addition, join us on the message boards and in the chat room. There
is usually a good group of folks in there around 9pm CST (that would be
8pm your time, I believe).

Wedding March, a no no!
I've long known that use of the "Wedding March" was not considered
acceptable, at least in LCMS congregations. I'm not sure about WELS or
ELCA and other Lutheran denominations.
The first strike against Wagner's operas is the strong focus on pagan
stories and themes.
The second is that back when Wagner was popular, the LCMS synod avoided
anything to do with "night life" considering such things to be
unwholesome.
Oh, and Polka, there are single Lutheran ladies around... Now can you
share where the single Lutheran guys are hiding?

Wedding Service Music
In the Lutheran tradition, the Church Ceremony is a Worship Service in
Celebration of the Marriage. Luther taught that marriage was not a
sacrament, as in the Roman Church, but it should be celebrated by the
Church.
Since the entire Wedding Service is a Church Service, most secular music
is considered inappropriate. The two traditional wedding marches,
Wagner's "Here Comes the Bride" and Mendelssohn's "Midsummer Night's
Dream" Recessional, were written for Opera. Wagner's is especially
frowned upon, since it was written for the Bridal Chamber scene.

wedding dance
Don, I can dance the chicken dance. Got a first prize with it once upn a
time. But I also got a prize in Tango and the Jitterbog. :)
I have to tell you all, since I am in this country, NO one could dance
the Polka, the real Ploka. One Saxephone player from the band could
dance the real Polka. But we could not dance often togehter, after all,
he had to play.
The Americans are no Polka dancer. Sorry, that is my experience. Maybe
its the South?
Have a great week.

Wedding Songs
A wedding reception would not be complete without the Cotton-Eyed Joe
and the Schottische! And yes Polka...there are still single Lutheran
ladies left. Sometimes I wonder if there are any single Lutheran guys
out there!

Wedding songs
KK, I agree as far as the wedding ceremony goes. But the reception
should be fun. No need for seriousness there. It's a party, after all.

Dance Songs
Good old Polkas are great. The older aunts and uncles expecpts them. The
young crowd needs to hear them. The "just because polka "is a crowd
pleaser. Are there any single Lutheran ladies left? One that does not
mind a former Catholic Boy that is.

What's the Matter With Mendelsohn?
KK, I fail to understand your position against Mendelsohn's Wedding
March. Care to explain why it shouldn't be played when the bride walks
down the aisle?
Troudy, I'd love to see you at a wedding reception doing the Chicken
Dance! Its a polka, after all, but with a little bit of beak, and a
little bit of.... etc.
The ones I could really do WITHOUT are the Macarena and YMCA.
Dum-de-dum-dum!

Wedding songs
A christian wedding should never have the Macarena, nor play Here comes
the Bride while walking down the aisle. All Christians including
Lutherans should do some homework with the songs they have. This is a
religious occasion, some drinking, ok, fun, oh yeah, but there is a line
you should not cross.

Wedding songs
Troudy, these songs are not to start the dancing. They're usually done
after the beer has been flowing for awhile. And what's a good Lutheran
wedding without beer.

Well...
Even though I'm relatively young (mid 40's), I still expect either "The
Bunny Hop" or "Do the Locomotion".
I agree, a nice waltz is wonderful to see...but with my German/Italian
background, I also expect either a Tarantella or a Rhinelander!

wedding song
My grand daughter is getting married in July. I better make sure, they
do not have any of these songs at her expensive wedding.
There are better songs to start the dance as these ordinary songs.
Vienna Waltz for instance. : )
Have a blessed week.
