Hard, Cold Reality

If I were a survivor, I'd be going nuts, too. But, at some point, reality must set in.

After this long, there is literally no hope of the trapped miners (we don't even know IF they're trapped -- they may simply be crushed in the cave-in) being alive.

While the mine owners have shown a bit of protectionist posturing, at some point there must come a time when reality sets in and you must realize that nothing can be done to bring them back. Its very similar to being lost at sea. What would the widows do if this had been an accident at sea?

Requiem in aeternam, dona eis requiem.
Et lux perpetua, luceat eis.

It is time to let them rest in peace.

miners

That is a tough question. I can not even imagine being under ground and not beong able to get back out. Just what goes through their minds. They all left for work that day just like any other day. now as far as we know they will never be seen alive again. We just never know when we see someone if that will be the last time we see them. Last fall I ran into one of my employees in December he died in a freak accident. Life is just so fragile. Cross that center line and the lives of many are devistated and all ina split second. We spend our lives working hard saving for the golden years. Taking it all in living loving cherish every moment you never know when it will be your last. To all of you be carefull out there.

Continue searching?

What a tough decision. But there is no longer any hope that any of the miners survive. And three more people were killed in the process of attempting to locate them. Is it worth risking additional life to find the remains? I'm glad it's not a decision I have to make.

Miners

it is hard to say yes or no. I am not a family member of one of these miners.
