There is no school and banks are not open on Columbus Day otherwise known as Native American Day here in South Dakota.

I don't know anyone who gets Columbus Day off unless they work for the government! I was born on Columbus Day---the REAL Columbus Day---October 12th and never got the day off of school. Most holidays are designed just so politicians can have an excuse to take an additional day off at our expense while we work to pay their salaries.

 Columbus Day

Columbus day should be a full day of School where they learn how to read Maps. It is amazing how Public schools turn out students who can not read Map, Charts or tables. They hit the work place and we have to train them and that takes time and money. Back in the olden days when I was in school we learned these skills.
