Dumb Stupid Tradition

...is what I think of DST. We need to get rid of it. Twice a year I have to reset every clock in my house (except for the one on the computer...it does it automatically, thank God for programming favors!), and in the spring, it takes me weeks to adjust to the lost hour. Let's face it: the days are shorter in winter, longer in summer. Let's just take them the way God sends them to us and quit tampering with numbers to try to make it seem otherwise.

Daylight Savings Time

The question is wrong. Daylight Savings Time does NOT create more daylight. It simply renumbers the hours of the day. Get rid of daylight savings time.

Daylight Savings

This poll seems to be fixed. It wouldn't let me vote for what I wanted. I am totally satisfied with daylight savings. We should have it year around.

day light saving time

I like the extra day light time. I live in Northern Mt. and in june it is light until 10pm it is just the greatest time of year. I wish it could be june 19 all year long. The longest day is still something to look forward to on the 19th. I am not real sure but in Heaven I think it is day light until 10:30 pm all year just a little longer you know.

Couldn't pick the answer I wanted

I wanted my vote to be "I love the extra daylight" but it wouldn't take it. Everytime I would hit "submite vote" it would come up with I had to vote before I submitted. So I had to choose another one just to see the results. :-(

Daylight Savings Time

I hate it! I never adjust to it which makes me sluggish all summer long. My natural clock is already far enough out of sync without playing with the clocks a couple of times a year. It's an outdated idea and I'm certain no real workaholic saved a dime on lighting. Every business in the country uses lights no matter what time of day it is.

DST

Ben Franklin originally suggested DST as a way to save money. Basically, he was reacting to the extravagance of the French Aristocracy, who spent lots of money on candles to work well into the night. This is also why he said "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise". Basically, he was encouraging people to use the daylight hours effectively.

As to the current DST - I don't mind that they moved it earlier into March, but I'm very upset that they extended it into November. To be balanced, if we start the 2nd Sunday in March, we should end the 1st Sunday in October. This would be about 2 weeks to either side of the Equinox.

In Toledo, Ohio, school starts around 7:30am. I'm very concerned that students have been travelling to school before sunrise for the last two weeks.

Duh!

We do NOT get an extra hour of daylight. Oh, how I wish we could control that. We just have the SAME amount of daylight at different times on the clock (one hour later than if we did not have DST). I hope the author of this question is not managing my TFL money.
