Salvation army

The Salvation Army is a Church. I know they have a Church building in my area. They do however help those in need.

Charity begins at home we should help those in our own region first. While we are at it We should help family and friends first. Then I think we also need to help people help themselves. I now where I live there are more jobs than people. Those that are able to work have no excuse not to be working. any job no matter what it pays is better than no job at all

Salvation Army

Shar,, I am glad you agree with me. The Salvation Army7 is doing for people around them more as any one else. World Relief is the best thing for overseas, according to the consumer report, but for me, it is not Christmas with out the kettle.

2 years ago, the orchestra ,Don plays in, was looking for a Hall were they could give a free concert on Veterans Day. Every one wanted a lots of money for rent. Since the Orchestra is a Community Symphony Orchestra and every one is a Volunteer who plays in that, they were looking around for a freeby. The Salvation Army, yes they are a church, offered their Fellowship Hall, which is in a beautiful Building. It was packed and a lots of Dignatiries from the State were there. That was the best Concert given in a long time for the Veterans. They had 125 special Veterans there. I never forget that. They recorded the concert and we gave them the CD's which they gave out to their members for Christmas. I thought , that was so good. We were on TV and newspaper and the Governor gave an excellent speach to all of the Vetrans. Made me cry.
The Head of the Salvation Army, forgot what they called him, also gave a fantastic speech, thanking every one for serving their country.

This is for the lady before Shar, forgot the name.
What difference does it make if they are a church or not? Don't you have change in your pocket when you go in or come out from the store? They are happy for every penny. Don't be one sided. The Luutheran church , I am going to now, collected can goods for the Salvation Army Chapter in our neighborhood. They have more facilities to care for people as our Lutheran Church in that neighborhood has. We all work together for the Kingdom of God. I never been to any of their services, but i understand ,it is a quiete dignefied service.
I don't think , there will be rooms in heaven for different churches. If we come to heaven, we all will be together.
(I wish they would have a spell check here, sorry, if there are many mistakes. )

Have a blessed Advent Season.

Salvation Army

I know that Lutheran World Relief and the church charities do a lot of good, charitable work, but they don't replicate what the Salvation Army does. I have met homeless women and children at the local soup who would be on the streets if they were not taken in by the Salvation Army. And they have given many men a second chance at a decent life.

I understand that they are having a hard time getting volunteers and I have made up my mind that next year I will volunteer to ring the bell for a few hours.

Troudy, I agree that they are one of the best local charities around. My daughter tells me that she can't pass up a kettle either. She well remembers the days when we had very little to spend for Christmas but we still always managed to put a few coins in the kettle whenever we passed it. To me, it's part of the giving of Christmas and I would be very sad to see them gone.

Salvation Army

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that the Salvation Army is not only a charity, but also a church. For this reason, I do not give to the Salvation Army. Instead I give to our synod's Committee on Relief fund, which does a lot of the same things as the Salvation Army.

Salvation Army

Ken, The Kettle from the Salvation army is for me the iceing to the giving cake. For me, seing the Salvation Army people with their kettle means, Christmas is almost here. The Savior is coming. Besides, that Organisation is the most sincere, MHO. I give my share for Organisations and Church all during the year, checks etc. I give , because I want to give, I do not give for tax returns.
I save pennies for LWML. Let some one tell you what they do with the pennies. You might be surprise.

Have a blerssed Christmas Season.

Red Kettles etc

I will not give cash. I save coins during the year and deposit them the weekend after Thanksgiving. I then use that Sunday to divide what I collected and send checks to the charities I care about. I then have a record of significant giving for the tax return. When younger I learned the hard way to keep a record. I also found I shared more this way than just waiting for the holiday kettle to appear.

Salvation Army

I am so thankful when I see the kettle in front of the store. Our Mall stopped doing this and I told the manager, that I will stop to coming to the mall if the kettle is not coming back. So far , the kettles are gone in front of any Mall entrance, and Troudy stays away. I only go into the stores , who have the Kettle person in front. I must not be the only person who talked to the manager, there are not many cars in front of the mall , and I pass there by almost every day. Well, we have a lots of Malls around. I even heard , that the day after Thanksgiving was not crowded at all. Our Wal - Mart does not have the kettle out either. I don't like Wal-Mart any way. I don't shop there.

The Salvation Army is the most honest Collection Group for needed people around. MHO. I worked with some of them for years. My donations go to them.

Have a blessed week.
