The best vacation would be any beach on the ocean. My top vacations were the ocean beaches at Maui, Hawaii, Sanibel Island, Florida, Virginia beach with it's beautiful boardwalk, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

3 Webfeet in a Row

Well, with one from the upper left, and one from the valley, I'll make three Oregonians in a row!

We are truly blessed: the high desert in two hours, the Columbia River Gorge in 45 minutes, Mt. Hood in an hour, the beach in an hour and a half (Mr. Smith is already purtnear there), and Mt. St. Helens is nearby, too.

We have forests, beaches, Cascade and Coast Range mountains, timber, rivers, lakes, cities with wonderfully vibrant arts scenes.... the word "Eden" comes to mind.

Back then I would get on my mc and just go until I had to turn around and get home. I still do it today but usually go by car. There's a lot to see by driving. Hit the beach, and the mountains and the desert. All in one trip.

Vacations

I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon...1 hour through the trees to the snow-capped mountains...1 hour through the trees to the ocean...for me, a vacation is any day I don't have to go to work so I can just enjoying being where I am.

I like a blend of things, including travel to both wilderness and urban areas. I like mountains as well a beaches...especially fresh-water lakes. I need to have that balance of nature to compete with the hub-bub of urban life.

I agree with both of the previous posts, although my family is a lot closer! They're all in Western NY, while I'm in Toledo.

Ideal vacation spot

My ideal vacation is visiting family 3,000 miles away. It is fun to see how the children have grown, how the area(s) have changed, etc. It's also nice to visit other places, but family is first in my heart.

Historic places are great destinations. I love to see where things happened so when I read history, I can visualize things. I have seem a number of Civil War and Revolutionary War battle fields. I have also been to Israel so Bible History is a physical reality to me. When Jesus talks about things, I have an idea of what the countryside looked like around him. Someday I want to go to "Luther Land" and see where Martin Luther lived and worked.
