Which party

The last time I looked, the economy was doing very well, low unemployment, etc. etc. Something you liberals continually overlook.

Politicians

While corruption and abuse of power does happen on both sides, one only has to look to the legacies of the scores of Republican big names and leaders who have crashed and burned the past 15 years. What is officially said is far different than what the ultimate outcome, at best, and a ruination of our economy and constitution at worst.

I'm with you Virgil

There's nothing wrong with Republican values Don. We believe in the private sector doing good rather than more and more inefficient government programs that seem to cause more problems then they solve. I could go on but I've got to leave for work now.

Its your issue, not mine

Virg,

You're all hot about something that you claim is your issue. Fine! Its your issue. That doesn't mean everyone else has to talk about it, too. It really isn't as important as many others TO many people, including Christians.

Why do YOU change the subject from what Christ's teachings are?

just confront issues

To Don the whatever--- just answer the issue of abortion and homo- marrage.

You are acting like a true liberal and changing the subject!

Well, folks... seems to me some of you really don't realize the type of radical liberal that Jesus Christ actually was, and that's truly a shame. For it was His words and actions that truly upset the status quo, held so dearly to by the conservatives of the Jewish world. Christ's teachings preach a totally different lesson than what the GOP has been peddling the past 30 years. The party used to represent honest and fair values, things that everybody could improve with. They're not that way any more.

no brain

If your 20 and vote Republican, you have no heart.
If your 30 and vote Democrat, you have no brain.
And yes, I know Jesus Christ is not a Republican, but I sure bet he is a conservative.

voting and values

Whatever happened to the Luth. church of my grandparents and great uncles?????

IT AIN"T NO MORE!!!!

I have refrained from writing because I knew I would come across hard. but that last artical about which party's values was too much. Not because of the faults stated about the Republican Party. But BECAUSE he totally ignored the issues of abortion and gay/lesbian. And then has the nerve to talk about interpertation of scripture.

Go to 11Cor; 7:14 and see why judgement will come on a people/country. The sins of Gods people!

Values?

Debby,

You talk of values. You talk of "standards emphasized in the platform of the Republican party are more in line with what believers support."

I respectfully disagree. Trust me, Republicans do not have a monopoly on faith, on Christianity, or even on the "right" way to interpret Scripture. I suppose you think Giulianni, Romney, or Huckabee, even, are all scriptural scholars and hold the keys to the proper way to understand the Word.... just because they're Republican? I can tell you right now, Giulianni is no "Mr. Morals", and I'd sure not count on Romney to leave all his driving faith at home -- remember, he's not Christian, he's Mormom... BIG difference!

When I read the Republican Platform, I see absolutely NOTHING in it that is in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Why is that? If Republicans would put into practice the values that Christ preached and practiced, maybe we could get somewhere. But all we have is pro-war, more debt, hatred and divisiveness, xenophobia, and the disappearance of the middle-class.

Republican

I guess Republicans are the silent majority around here. From reading the message boards I thought we were out numbered.

Which party will win?

Donna, you are correct. If you are looking for the party whose aim is to make people dependent on the government, then the Democratic party is for you.

Parties

Donna, the answer to your question is yes, the republican party is the best one. I think that Bush is too liberal. I agree with him about Iraq. I was in the navy, and I was near Baghdad for six months. I hope that Huckabee becomes president. He says that his most important issue is securing the border and deporting illegal aliens. He's pro-fairtax, pro-life, pro-gun rights, and anti-gay marriage.

Election

The Republicans may be leading in the peoples minds. But are they the best party. The Democrates are the only party who are for the people. Grow up everyone and don't let the Republicans fool you.

Values matter...

I am not surprised that the Republicans lead in this poll. There is a big difference in what the parties' basic values. The standards emphasized in the platform of the Republican party are more in line with what believers support. While we look to God for guidance, let us pray that a man of faith in The Great I Am is nominated so that we may have a nation that turns back to the True God of the Bible. As of this date, the only party offering such a candidate is the Republican party, although it also offers men who are of questionable faith and no faith. May God direct our nation!

The Party Trap

As he was departing the Presidency, Washington warned against the formation of parties. We didn't listen, and now we see the result: men and women who can't or don't think for themselves because their party doesn't think like that. Moreover, most states require party affiliation to vote in the primaries, which means that if I felt that Democrat X would make a good President, as an independent I would be required to call myself a Democrat in order to vote for X. And since I don't agree with much of the Democrats' stated platform, I cannot do that. Ditto for the Republicans.
But quite honestly, I haven't encountered even one candidate that I could stand behind with a good conscience. Guess I'll end up voting for the least of several evils...again.

Perhaps some have come to their senses?

I think the public as a whole, and people of faith, especially, are tired of the "family values" of war, debt, and the disappearance of the middle class.

I'm surprised by the results. I read that the majority of Lutherans are Republicans. In 1988, Bush beat Dukasis, 54%-46%, but 63% of Lutherans voted for Bush.
