Chritsmas music

Must we choose? So may of them are dear to my heart that the choice was very difficult. As to the other suggestions - great ideas! Thank the Lord that I have a church that knows how to pick their music! Christmas is the best time of year for music. Then again - there is always room for new favorites - sing to the Lord a new song!

We Three Kings!

Now that's a carol with meaning (even if they were really wise men, and who knows how many):
We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy Perfect Light

Born a King on Bethlehem's plain
Gold I bring to crown Him again
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to rein

Frankincense to offer have I
Incense owns a Deity nigh
Pray'r and praising, all men raising
Worship Him, God most high

Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
Breathes of life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb

Glorious now behold Him arise
King and God and Sacrifice
Alleluia, Alleluia
Earth to heav'n replies

What Child is This?

I am so glad to see several people know this song, it has been my favorite since the first time I heard it. Although not sung very often I have found many people that have this on the top of their list.
Peace in Christ!

What Child is This

What Child is This

What child is this, who, laid to rest
On Mary's lap, is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?

Chorus:
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing:
Haste, haste to bring him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

Why lies he in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear for sinners here,
The silent Word is pleasing.

Chorus

So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh,
Come peasant king to own Him,
The King of kings, salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.

Raise, raise the song on high,
The Virgin sings her lullaby:
Joy, joy, for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

How about this one?

Mary Did You Know?

Mary, did you know
that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?

Did you know,
that your baby boy has come to make you new?
And the child that you delivered, would soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know
that your baby boy would give sight to the blind man?
Mary, did you know
that your baby boy would calm a storm with his hand?

Did you know,
that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby,
you've kissed the face of God.

Oh Mary, did you know?

~ Instrumental Break ~

The blind will see
The deaf will hear
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb.

Oh Mary, did you know
that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?

Did you know,
that your baby boy is Heaven's perfect lamb?
And the sleeping child you're holding, is the great I AM.

Christmas Carol

I like anything carol except that "Little Drummer Boy" - deadly dull song esp. the original recording. And besides - who would want some brat kid on a drum waking up the baby??? At our home the rule was - whoever wakes the baby up, has to put him back to sleep, so . . will the drummer boy do his part to put the Baby Jesus asleep or will he just leave???
