cell ph bills
Oh, here's a complaint I have about cell phones. My cell phone company
provides a detailed bill (shows who you called, how many text messages,
etc.) for each cell phone.
We checked with some other companies that had cheaper packages and
rates, but they charged extra for a detailed bill! I'm not comfortable
with just getting a bill with a total $$ amount. I want to see how they
come up with the figure we owe. Maybe I'm just too worried about
details?

cell ph or land line?
Thanks for the welcome, Troudy :) Yes, I'm new & getting acquainted.
Depending on plans, I know cell phones can be a better value, but our
cell phone bill is usually over $100-110/month for two phones -unlimited
incoming, nights & weekends, and can't forget my daughter's 500 text
messages!:( Our land line bill is about $40, which includes 100 long
distance minutes. (We keep this because of older relatives that can dial
us locally w/out long distance charges.)
If anyone would have told me five years ago I'd be paying $150/mo. just
for phone service, I'd have said they were nuts. Oh well, that's life,
I guess.

cell phone
I switched to just a cell phone several years ago. I do not use my phone
that much and I was paying over $40.00 a month for my land line. Now I
buy $25.00 pay as you go and it will last up to three months. Do the
math.

Land & Cell
Personally, I don't like the quality of most digital cell services -
they only allow one side to be heard, so if there's a loud background
noise on my end, the phone cuts out the person on the other end. Since
I have three cats, this is an ongoing problem
All of my family and many of my friends live out of state, and we don't
use the cell phone much. Since I call my family often, I use to have
over 600 minutes of long distance each month. Our cell phone service
was $23 each month, but since we only used it when travelling, we wound
up paying massive roaming charges when we actually needed it.
Fortunately, I now have a land line with unlimited US Long Distance
service for about $52/month. My wife and I have each switched to a
pre-paid cell phone for emergencies - they cost $100 per year for 1,000
minutes, and the minutes roll over if we don't use them. So, we're now
paying under $70 per month to have two cell phones and a land line,
instead of over $100 per month for just the one cell and land line.

cell phones
We use only cell phones. We transistioned first by dropping our
land-line plan to the cheapest possible ( budget). We got incoming calls
and paid for outgoing per call. Then we sent out notices to our friends
and other contacts and businesses over the course of 6 months saying we
had a new number as of a certain date. It was very smooth. No problems
with people not being able to get us.
We live in an area where almost every call we made was a toll call (4
cents a min). My huband would talk to his brother a lot among other
friends and that added up. The CLINCHER was when the phone company
started charging us FIVE dollars a month because we didn't make enough
toll and long distance calls and then there was the MANDATORY $7 or so
dollars in Fed taxes and a host of other fees. Sure we have them on our
cell phone bill, but why pay them twice?
Dropping our land line was the best thing we ever did. I am 60 years old
and had no problem adjusting, but then I like to stay with the "program"
so to speak.

cell ph.
Cell phs. may be OK if they would have stayed with the old bag phs.
Every so called upgrade of phs. has been a down grade in service, that
IS A FACT!!!!
I want to talk not use a computer, take pictures, or play games.

Magdalen, I noticed your posts on the message board. Are you new?
Welcome to LOL.
I noticed too, that the battery goes down fast. Oh well. What else we
have to do? Just recharge the batteries for the cell phone. : )
Have ablessed evening

Cell ph. vs Land Line
I agree with Troudy. I guess I'm starting to sound like my
mother-in-law, who never liked trying to learn how to use new tv's,
phones, appliances.... well, anything new! I have a cell phone mostly to
be able to communicate better with my kids. But I find it really
annoying that the battery doesn't stay charged very long, or I can't
find it because I left it in the car while unloading groceries the day
before!

cell phones
I have an I Phone and I would be so much better off, if I knew how to
use thst stupid thing. Or maybe I am too stupid or too old to use it? My
11 year ol granddaughter has no problems. It is not cheap.
I would rather stick with my land lines, but I was told to get modern.
Oh well.
Have a great day

phone service - Sally
Sally says, "I get everything for free on my cell." I don't think she
really means that; does she really own a cell co. or does she pay a
bill? I bet it's all included in the bill she pays -- NOT free.

why keep land line
Trying to find good reason why I should keep the land line. No long
distance or any special features...I get everything for free on my cell.
My Internet is through the cable. Land line only provides channel for
telemarketers (although I'm off the list again, so no longer a problem).
I think the land line is just an old "habit" that is hard to part with.
