What do you do with your free time?

I agree, Thomas. I volunteer regularly, but I don't consider that free time. That is definitely scheduled time.

Volunteering

I frequently volunteer for conservative candidates because I think our country would be much better if more of them are elected. I live near Chicago, and, for four months, I was the volunteer coordinator for a U.S. Senate candidate.

Volunteering

I doubt anyone would deny the importance of volunteering, but I suspect that people read the question differently.

First of all, what do you like to do? While I do enjoy volunteering, it isn't always the most enjoyable thing to do. A lot of volunteer activities are personally satisfying, but not enjoyable. For example, cleaning up litter or brush to make a public place look better provides satisfaction for a job well done, but it's a lot of work, and not always enjoyable.

Secondly, how do you define "free time"? I took the question to mean "unscheduled time". Most of my volunteer activities are scheduled, so I don't really consider them "free time".

Also, as to Dan's comments: You can always use Martin Luther's own challenge. "Show me in the Scriptures where I have erred, and I will recant"

Free Time

I am shocked to see that (so far) only 8% list volunteering as what they do with their free time. In looking over the options for this poll, I see that most, if not all, of the options are things that can be done while volunteering to help those less fortunate than ourselves--and the world is full of them. Volunteering should be at the top of our to-do lists. Read to a kindergarten class or story time at the library, make crafts to sell at your church bazaar to help LWR and other organizations, share a movie with your Sunday School class, cook at a mission house, clean the streets or roads near your home...you get the picture. Oh, one more, get involved with the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans fraternal organization at your church...my but do we have fun while helping others. Go Lutes!!

Free Time

There are a lot of things that I like to do in my free time, needlework (counted cross stitch) is my favorite. Next is reading, then hiking with my hubby.

Thannk You MVT I am very proud of My Christian Faith I was once of the same denomination as you. I searched I found my home here in the lutheran denomination. I have been atacked by friends and family for it and it used to upset me. Now What I must do is try and live my life with christian values and not allow the negative remarks of others get me down. Their remarks can only drag them down and not me. I must learn from my mistakes and the negativity of others and move forward.

Hi Dan, I'm a Roman Catholic, who works for a congregation of beloved Lutherans. I think that we're all going home to the same Creator and your relatives may be very surprised when they meet their new neighbors! Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing my friends from many different faiths and denominations and I don't think we'll have to leave the Master's house to do it!

free time

Over the Easter weekend My Free time was spent listening to why my"ROMAN" Catholic Family thinks They are going to Heaven and why I am not.

Not only did someone tell them they were going to Heaven the same person told them " by the way Uncle, Brother, son Dan is going to purgatory. I am always the last person to be told anything.
