church
I do still go to a very similar church, but on Wednesday nights I go to
a non-denominational church for praise & worship. I wish the smaller
churches on the East coast would have something every Wednesday night,
or other nights, not just during Lent and Advent. I have a stressful
job and I need at least two "shots of Jesus" to get me through the week.
Daily bible reading helps, but to be with others praising our Lord and
Saviour is just icing on the cake.

The church I grew up in
Well, yes.... but you'd never have known it. The roots of the
congregation were very pietistic and austere. Sermons were dry and even
the adults slept through them. No effort (that I could tell) was made to
help people be interested in deeper study in the Word, or to realize the
meaning of grace and joy.
The church I've attended the past 15 years is alive! The sermons are
challenging and urge the congregation to not stereotype and not live up
to stereotypes. The first sermon I heard there was on Article 4 of the
Augsburg Confession - Justification by Grace through Faith. I knew I
was home!
Incidentally, the church I was baptized and confirmed in is now for
sale. They want about $269K, and if I had that to spare, I'd buy it and
either open up a church of my own, or a B&B. Silverton OR is becoming
quite a draw for tourism.

Church
If you mean by "the same kind of church you grew up in," a confessional
LCMS church, the answer is yes. But this church is much warmer and
friendlier than the church I remember from my childhood. I consider my
pastor a friend, and I don't believe my parents ever considered our
church pastor as a friend. I think they were just a little bit
intimidated by him. I know I was. In my church now, the kids of all
ages love the pastor.
I love my church and the people there. Can't say I felt that way about
my home church

Church
I didn't belong to any church growing up. I was in one of the Armstrong
cults during my teen years and young years. I became a Missouri Synod
Lutheran after breaking away from Armstrongism and have been happy there
for 14 years!

Church
I was born and raised in the Roman Catholic Church. When I turned Forty
three last fall I joined An ELCA Lutheran church. I Feel more at home
now more than ever before. I like to think I was a lutheran all my life
it just has taken a while to come home. I have learned more and spoken
more to my pastor in the last year than I have a catholic priest in 42
Years prior.

Lutheran church groups
I was born in 1967. When I was a kid, I was a member of about five ALC
churches. After the merger of 1989, I became a member of an ELCA
church, and I was a member of five of them. This year, I joined a
Missouri Synod church.
