Lost and Found

Yes, I lost my job... but not due to the economy. The company I no longer work for has been hit hard, however.

By the grace of God, I got a new job 14 days after losing the other - in some ways, it's even better.

Economic Crunch has hit even me

I have 3 part time jobs and lost one due to the slow economy. I need a full time job with company benefits.

Layoffs

I work in HR for a small manufacturing company. Our business is about 85% dependent on the housing and automotive industries so we are in as bad a state right now as they are. We have employees working reduced schedules, we have reduced staff in all plants and are in the process of closing one of them. All of our employees have taken pay cuts and we have suspended pension and 401K contributions.

Getting up every morning to do what I do is not fun. I know they are business decisions, but I take it personally. These are all people I have come to know and they are more than just a number or a name on a page.

I am not asking anyone to feel sorry for me- it's my job, I have to do my job- but we are doing everything we can to keep people employed and we just can't make it happen and it gets harder and harder every day.

Job

I wasn't looking for a job, didn't really want a job, but had one just kind of dumped into my lap. So I have come out of retirement and joined the ranks of the employed.
