Easter traditions

My own personal tradition is that I go visiting to a different church on Easter morning (I see plenty of the inside of my own church during the various Holy Week services!). Usually it is to a different Lutheran church in the area; but this year, I visited my mother's Catholic church (which really isn't so different). We all have one thing in common: the Resurrection! Christ is risen indeed, Alleluia!

Easter Services

I have always enjoyed Easter Sunrise Services. Easter will be hard for me this year, even though it is later in the year than last year. My husband LOVED Sunrise Service and always wanted to have it outside at 6AM. Last year he was in Heaven for Easter and got the BEST Easter SonRise Service EVER. He arrived in Heaven last year March 22. He was only 47, but he was always ready. He always said the first question he would ask when he got to heaven was "What took you so long to get me?" He was truly a blessing to all of us. God's Blessings and Peace to all of you this Easter Season.

Easter pre sunrise

I love to stand in the church building before daybreak; alone in the darkness, surrounded by 80-100 lily plants (which, after services, will be distributed to shut-in folk). The lilies' sweet scent fills the sanctuary; rising with their scent is the aroma of freshly prepared Bread and Wine for Holy Communion. Silently, I await the very first ray of sunlight. This ray pierces the stained glass window, displaces the darkness and announces the triumphal morning which will overflow with thankful praise of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Favorite Easter Tradition

Our family's favorite is the tennebrae service on Good Friday. The lights keep getting dimmed and then near the end of the service they are out completely. Our pastor stands at the altar and slams the bible shut to signify the tomb being closed. Then a choir member quietly sings the "Were you there" song after which everyone leaves in complete silence. We have been doing this as long as I can remember. You know exactly what is going to happen, yet you still jump when the bible is slammed and you still get chills when the soloist starts singing. Not even the young children talk! (Though one year the slam did cause a baby to start crying, which just gave you chills even more!!!)

Easter Service

I really enjoy the Easter sunrise service just as I enjoy the Midnight service for Christmas. There is something that is especially moving about those services. Unfortunately we do not get to the Easter sunrise service anymore. My church likes to cook Easter breakfast and the smell of the eggs sets off an asthma attack. We are looking for another church to worship at on Easter morning.

SKC

I have for the past 4 years been asked to do our childrens ministry during our late service. It has been a blessing to be able to bring the wonderous story to the children. Especially the children who have never heard the story before. I miss service, easter dinner with my family (they are 2 hours away and our service does not end until Noon) so I would never make it there in time. But, the joy that I get to experience is awesome!

Easter

I just love Easter services. The past few years I've been going to all 3 services that our church has since they are all different.

Easter Service

Being able to go to Easter Service regardless what time. Our church does not have Sunrise services but when we are with our friends, we go to a Sunrise service. The most joyous Sunday of all. Who would want to miss it.

Easter

I'm not an early bird, so the regular Easter Service is my cup of tea. Its just so inspiring after Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. He Is Risen!! He Is Risen Indeed.

Easter tradition

I enjoy Sunrise service. There is something about the sun shinning thru the stained glass and the signs of spring abound outside. Easter has been celebrated for 2000 years. 2000 Easter morning Sun Rises. The Sun will continue to Rise until the SON RISES AGAIN
