Plastic Bags

As a Walmart Associate, I can understand why many people use thier own bags. I have been with Walmart for 7 years and the bags get thinner and thinner each year. I miss the old Blue bag, twere the strongest. The grey ones they have now would split down the side with a strong sneeze.

As for me, I try to remember to take my own bags or not use one at all.

Canvas Bags

I refuse to use the flimsy plastic bags. My wife and I have six canvas bags that we have taken to the store for over 16 years. If I have to make a non-scheduled run, I either don't use a bag for a small order, or request paper - I can use those for craft projects.

We also bag our own groceries. The plastic bags just don't hold enough, and the store doesn't teach their staff how to load anything other than those silly plastic bags. The last time we let the store staff pack our groceries, they put only two things in one of our canvas bags - a loaf of bread and a turkey. :(

shopping bags

I used to use the reusable bags sold by the stores until one day I observed a cashier struggle to fill those flimsy bags. The cashier could have finished much sooner and saved herself a lot of aggravation if she had just used the plastic bags on the carousel.

Also the reusable bags are bigger and when filled can be much too heavy for a senior citizen to carry.

Ask for plastic bags and return them to the store and put them in the recycle bin or use them as waste basket liners.
