Promoting your Web site

  • Know your audience: What will people be looking for when they come to your Web site? Plan the content of your site according to this. Be sure to update it often to keep people coming back.

  • Keep the Web site focused: It is important to know the purpose of your Web site. For example, if you have a church Web site—be sure the content and structure of the site is helpful for those who want to learn more about your church. Utilize separate pages (or a separate Web site) to create “areas” for the youth group or other groups who may access information here. Keep it clean and simple!

  • Put important information at the top or make it easily seen: Make sure the visitor isn’t “over-scrolling” to try to find what they are looking for.

  • Be consistent: Once you start a style for your Web site, continue this throughout. For example, you might want to utilize a larger font for each posting header, and then a smaller, more readable font for content. Be creative, while ensuring that the user experience is kept in mind. Also, limit the use of italics or bold. They can be hard to read if overused!

    • Your site name will be http://www.lutheransonline.com/mysite, where mysite is the site alias you choose.
