Jesus' "love one another" tells me that human beings can learn to relate in responsible and competent care-giving & care-receiving transactions.Jesus also directs human beings to repair and heal the damage from neglectful and violent transactions.
Healing requires claiming and suffering the hurts in relationships through personal soul surgery which cuts out malignant thoughts, words and behaviors.
Such a love-empowered lifestyle results in becoming competent human beings who struggle in God's laboratory of life practicing new loving thoughts, words and behaviors which Christ has modeled for us.
In practicing such a lifestyle of love we become transformed and conformed to the "image of Christ."

I worked as a Marriage & Family Therapist in private practice for 15 years. Before that I served as a Lutheran Pastor for 12 years in the Bronx and 11 years in Dallas. Professional and personal need for social, emotional and spiritual competence took me into psychotherapy training and led to certification by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
