Dear
sisters in Christ,
Can
you hear me now? This refrain has been repeated thousands of times on television
as a man walks around with a phone held to his ear. Can you hear me now? Can you
hear me now? The man wants to be positive that you have heard his message.
How
often do we hear God’s message? How often do we listen to His voice? I am not
talking about listening to God’s word as it is proclaimed from the pulpit on
Sunday mornings. I am asking how often do you simply stop and listen to God. One
of my favorite passages from the Bible comes from 1 Kings 19: 11-12. “And as
Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain.
It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was
not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in
the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not
in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.” God
was in the gentle whisper! We need to listen to the voice of God found in the
gentle whisper. We need to hear the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit telling us
about God’s plan and God’s will for us. Often we expect to hear God’s message
shouted with all the fire and brimstone or shaking and quaking that we miss the
message found in a beautiful sunset, a loving smile, or a warm cozy fire. We
can get so caught up in our loud, booming lives that we fail to hear God’s soft,
quiet whisper. Take time to listen to God for He may be wondering “Can you hear
Me now?”
Join
us to hear a message of God’s love on Saturday, April 12, 2008. Our LWML Spring
Rally will be held that morning at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fairport Harbor.
Registration will begin at 9:30am with the meeting/program to begin at 10:00am.
Tia Ciferno, an inspirational speaker will incorporate her beautiful singing
with her message of God’s love. A light meal will follow the program at a cost
of $6.00 Please add your voice to this morning of praise, prayer and planning.
Come and listen to God’s message found in the fellowship of your sisters in
Christ.
Together
we will SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS.

Greetings in the name of Risen and Glorified Savior,
I am surely humbled with the honor of
serving as your Zone Counselor. I would ask for your prayers and the
blessing of God to give me the strength and wisdom to serve you in this
capacity. As a new pastor in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, yet a
lifelong Lutheran, I see every day the blessings that God gives to His
people. I will keep all the work that I do for the LWML Northest Zone
with my eyes focused on the cross of Jesus Christ, thanking God for the gift
of Eternal Life, given to us through the sacrifice of blood by His
Son. May God continue to shine His light on all of you.
In His Service

Here's A Good Idea! |
Instead of ''Googling'' the next time you use a
search engine, go to
http://www.goodsearch.com and
type ''LWML'' and select LWML St. Louis in the ''I'm supporting'' box. Each time
a search is initiated, an estimated 1 cent is given to LWML. This sounds like a
small amount, but multiple searches by many people add up. For example, if 1,000
women searched twice a day, LWML could potentially receive $7,300 a year.
