Corn festival is upon us, which in my world
is like the end of summer. To our young people
it is over once school begins. I'm sure the
newness of getting back to school has passed and
it has become the daily grind again!Confirmation begins this month also and we pick up
with their faith journey once again. As with
everything, there will be highs and lows. In some
classes, the confirmands will get more out of the
message than in others. Remember, we are building
their faith and with every construction project,
certain challenges arise!
Speaking of challenges, wasn't God challenging us just
a few weeks back with the rain and storms that
seemed to never end. To me, seeing all that flooding
was a reminder of how powerful God really is. However,
look at what all that gloomy rain brought..all the
beautiful green all over again...that too reminds me of
His power...and those that have suffered from disasters,
with the help of many, are getting things back together.
Speaking of rain, here is an interesting twist...
A gentleman was driving along throught the rain with his
daughter when suddenly she spoke up and said, 'Dad, I'm
thinking of something.' This could be anything,
coming from a 6 year old mind!!
'What are you thinking?', Dad asked.
'The rain', she began, 'is like sin and the windshield
wipers are like God wiping our sins away.'
'WOW!', Dad replied, 'That was really good!'
Dad wondered how far his young daughter would
take this revelation. He asked,'Do you notice
how the rain keeps coming? What does this tell you?'
She didn't hesitate: 'We keep on sinning and
God just keeps on wiping away our sins."
Interesting! Next time I turn on my windshield wipers,
I'll think of that young girl's response.
Remember, in order for us to see a rainbow, we must
first endure some rain! Also, we must remember that
if God brings it to us,
He will also bring us through it!
I look forward to our upcoming journey in faith!
