Chapter Election Reminders

As we look forward to June, it is time for chapter leadership boards to start planning for their fall elections.  You, as Vice President of your local chapter, play a key role in the success of the election process.  Part of your role as vice president is being responsible for the nominations process. We've also copied two other leaders who we know have email access and can help.

Please review your chapter leader terms on-line to discuss your election “strategy” this year. Many chapter leaders are currently serving their fourth term and will be required to go off the board at the end of the year. In order to keep some experienced officers on the board, an individual who has served three consecutive terms may choose to step down for one year so they may be elected again having three more years of eligibility.

The attached materials will help you with the nominations process. We hope you will get started right away.  We have also emailed a copy of this document to the President and Records Director of your chapter.  In the following pages, you will see how almost everyone on the chapter leadership board plays a role in the elections process.  Feel free to make copies of these pages to distribute to the other leaders at your upcoming meeting.

The LCS team is scheduling a teleconference on Wednesday, July 23, at 7:30 PM for any chapter leaders, new or experienced, who need help or have questions concerning their 2008 fall chapter election. We would ask that you read the attached election materials and have your questions prepared in advance of this teleconference. Chapter leaders will be encouraged to share best practices that they have used in past years. The dial-in-number is 1-800-453-7412. The pass code is 247903#.  Please call in approximately 5 minutes prior to the scheduled time. If you are unable to participate in the call, you may have another chapter officer call in for you.

If you have any further questions, please give Steve Zeigler – RFO 165 (888-270-9558) or Reni Hy – RFO 115 (866-663-9817) a call.

We appreciate all of your hard work as a chapter volunteer and thank you for your help with the election process!

Morris County NJ Chapter's Activity in "The Lutheran"
The Kids Care and Share project at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Pompton Plains, NJ, is featured on page 42 of the October 2007 issue of "The Lutheran." The Morris County NJ Chapter is credited with assisting by providing funds for a hands-on activity as part of the community outreach program. Canned Castle of Food
The congregational group of Grace Lutheran Church, Vestal, NY, decided to build a "canned castle" in preparation for the coming summer--so that they are in practice and CHOW is covered a bit for the coming vacation times. They obtained the reusable grocery store bags and passed them out during the month of February, asking folks to return the bags full, but to keep the bags and be more "green" for your world. And this is the result.
