Dear people and friends of St. Luke's!
Greetings to you all in the name of Christ our Lord, who has come and will come again to save and redeem us!
Who would have expected it, that the Almighty and Eternal Son of God, begotten before all worlds, should be found wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger? Who could have anticipated that lowly shepherds would be the ones to whom the angels first annnounced the holy birth? Is it not the foolishness of God, which is, as St. Paul said, "wiser than men, and the weakness of God, whis is stronger than men?"
St. Lukes tree each year is a Chrismon tree. Would you like to add a Chrismon to the tree? Chrismons are Christmas decorations with Christian symbols on them. They help Christians to remember that Christmas is the celebration of Jesus's birthday. They are often used on Christmas Trees in Churches and Christians homes.
They were first made by Frances Kipps Spencer at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Danville, Virginia, U.S.A.. She also thought of the word, Chrismon, which is a combination of Christ and monogram (meaning symbol). The idea quickly spread to other churches. It is traditional that Christian groups can make their own Chrismons with their favourite symbols on.
Chrismons are traditionally coloured white and gold. White is the liturgical (or Church) colour for Christmas and symbolises that Jesus was pure and perfect. Gold symbolises His Majesty and Glory. Chrismons can be made from nearly anything, but paper and embroidered ones are the most widely used.
The Bible is the cradle wherein Christ is laid.
Will you help to beautify the chancel area this Christmas season?
Plants will cost $10.00 each. Checks should be made out to St. Lukes and clearly identified as paying for Christmas poinsettias. Thank you! Check bulletin board for sign up.
Sunday School will have a special program for the kids on Sunday, December 14, 2014. We hope all family and friends can be there to watch and support the children while they tell the story of Jesus' birth. The children will practice during Sunday School time for a few Sundays before the program.
During the Christmas season, on December28 and January 4, Sunday School at 9AM will NOT be in session. BUT we will have an activity for the children during the 10AM worship service. The children will perform their Christmas program during the worship service.
Please, lets brighten a Child's Christmas morning!!!
I have placed Angels with names of boys and Girls with items on their Christmas list on the Christmas Tree in the back of the church.
So lets put a smile on a child's face, please pick an angel or two too. So help me a Christmas wish come true!!
Thanks for helping SANTA!!
Please bring the items wrapped with the Angel on top!! Thank you all!!

In Christ, Elsa Peterman MacDonald's human journey has come to an end. She has gone home. Elsa was born to Emil and Dorothy (Maasz) Peterman, but was born again in the waters of Baptism, a child of God, a Christian.
Since we believe this truth we can rejoice in our sorrow for we know her life on earth had tremendous value, and we believe Elsa will rise with Jesus Christ.
We will miss you Elsa.
Winter Hours Worship is at 10:00 a.m.
Sunday School will be at 9:00a.m.
Coffee Fellowship is at 11:00 a.m.
 Adult Sunday School 11:30 a.m.
 Wednesday Study Group 11:00 a. m.
Sunday School will be at 9:00a.m. at which time we ask that you take a few minutes to fill out a registration card. Parents are asked to attend with their children.
We need volunteers to help with child care during the worship service. Please remember when Sunday School is in session we must keep it quiet in the community room and narthex.
As always children are encouraged to come to worship. Sometimes though they would rather stay in the community center and play. We need to have one or two adults Sunday to stay in the community center and watch over them. The more volunteers we have the less times each volunteer will need to stay. ie., if we get eight volunteers we can have two each Sunday and all would need to stay just one Sunday out of the month. Please see Pastor, Eve or Ellie
Our Sunday School is for ages 3 years and up. Confirmation class begins in grade 7.
