Lutheran Women's Missionary League

Lutheran Women in Mission

Indiana District LWML Special Gifts Fund

Purpose:

The Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), Indiana District, often receives requests for assistance for mission outreach projects, but current structures prevent us from meeting urgent mission needs. In many cases, we miss dynamic opportunities for mission outreach in part due to the lack of flexibility in our structure. The Special Gifts Fund will enable the LWML to help meet the immediate need for short-term mission outreach.

Qualifications:

1. Any member of a Lutheran Church-MIssouri Synod (LCMS) congregation or a member of any congregation in fellowship with the LCMS needing assistance for volunteer mission experience may apply.

2. Submitter should contact an LWML society for sponsorship.

3. The mission endeavor must be part of the LCMS mission effort and be sanctioned by the LCMS Board for Mission and Evangelism, Indiana District.

Policies:

1. There will be a maximum amount of $1000 issued per project; couples are to apply under one name.

2. A balance of no less than $1000 will be maintained in an interest-bearing account to insure the viability of the grant fund.

3. The Indiana District LWML's responsibility ends with the issuance of the check.

4. The recipient agrees to present an oral/written report to the specified LWML organization within one year of completion of the mission endeavor, as directed by the Executive Committee, Indiana District LWML.

Procedures:

1. Application must be made to the Indiana District President at least three months prior to the anticipated need, if possible. Application forms are available from the Vice President of Mission Grants, Indiana District LWML.

2. The application must contain all pertinent information regarding the endeavor, including purpose, dates, location, cost, sources of funding, etc.

3. Disbursement of funds must be approved by a majority vote of the Executive Committee, Indiana District LWML.

4.The Vice President for Mission Grants, Indiana District LWML, will voucher the funds.
