Evangelize, Perform Stewardship, and Help Someone to Read - A Triple Header! Our Bethel Literacy Program is making some huge steps forward, and God willing, we hope to be able to start with our first students in mid-to-late April. It is not too late to sign up to be a tutor! The training date is March 29th, 12:30 PM, at the church. We have been blessed to receive 10 boxes of books from the D'Iberville Middle School, and formal starter books from the Gulfport Adult Education Department. The Jackson Council Literacy Council is graciously going to train our tutors, and has held our hand and helped tremendously throughout this start up process. However, we are looking for book donations, especially for grades 1-4, and particularly Bibles which would be appropriate for grammar school age readers. If you have a child or grandchild who has outgrown their books, we would appreciate the donation of them to our new Bethel Literacy Program, preferably before April 15th. (I know the dollar stores have some appropriate books - hint hint). Does this give anyone the idea for a book drive at their child's school classroom? I hope so! We also need lined paper, pens, and pencils. Any questions, contact Mary Ann Green at the church, 228-388-1226, or bethel.literacy.com@yahoo.com . |
