Chester Smith and Rev. Ann Leslie Smith |

Chester Smith and his lovely wife, the Rev. Ann Leslie Smith, lead our worship service on May 22. Chester Smith is well known for his country music. He has played with country greats such as Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizell and Hank Snow. Ann Leslie is the Police Chaplain for Marin County. They both shared their music, testimonies and wisdom.

Ann shared that as a youth she lived in Pacifica with her parents for a short while. They were Lutherans but the turns in life brought them to the Mormon church. She said that her experience with the Mormon religion helped to equip her for the ministry and to take strong stands for God and His Word because she knows how easily one can be fooled into believing or accepting half-truths. She shared a word of encouragement from the scriptures. "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people people alive." Genesis 50:20 Chester Smith spoke about his pioneering role in the broadcast business and his conversion to Christ. He shared with the young people at church how imortant it is in "these last days" to temper knowledge with wisdom. Wisdom comes only from God. "I saw the plan my Creator had for me and I acted it out" he said.

Easter Sunrise Service |
Pastor Nibbe was joined at Sweeney Ridge by aproximately 100-150 people Easter morning to praise God for the resurrection of His Son. God treated them to a "glorious sunrise" for rising early and enduring the chilly weather. Many who attended also enjoyed a hot breakfast at Holy Cross.
Easter Sunday |
Easter Breakfast, March 27, was a huge success thanks in large part to the organizational skills of Valerie Jeffries and Jose Torres. We would also like to thank Don and Janis Haynes, Mary Minor, and Sheila Loggan for the help in the kitchen and to all those who made special dishes for the event. |

Holy Cross puts on this breakfast every year to feed those who wake up early to be a part of the Sunrise Service at Sweeney Ridge. There was a large turnout this Easter and everyone said that it was the "best Sunrise Service" that they had ever been to. They were also very appreciative to have a hot breakfast waiting for them.
