| Pic of socks and pic of Tassle-less Tank! I do not like the toe closing on sock #2 but I'm going to have to get over it. I was trying to get the area down to the blue where I finished sock #1. I ended up decreasing too far, which brought the toe to a point. I frogged that and got it to where I could cut the yarn and somewhat make a match. Trying to incorporate more blue made for a lumpy feeling seam. Maybe I'll frog it again sometime later. For now, they're finished and as you see, were on my feet.Moving along on the tank. I'm up to the chest area and making the center lace panel. I didn't like the look of my first bobble and I didn't expect that I would. This morning I decided to frog the center, lace panel because of a yarn over that obviously went into the wrong place. I was going to leave it or sew it but I couldn't stand it so I left the sides on the needles and pulled out the center 15 stitches down to that row. Luckily I had a spare pair of needles in the car. Probably pretty funny looking to see someone working on something with 4 needles across. Also, I was reading over the pattern last night and it says that I'll be making the cable panels up the sides of the back. I'm not sure I like that touch. I'm thinking of doing plain ol' stockinette and telling them that I'm the boss. I'll have to sit and look at the front and decide if I want the panels there or not. I'm still amazed by how quickly this pattern works up. I ended up having to stitch marker like a mad woman last night. I needed a visual to keep up with the center lace panel made up of 15 stitches. I think that is what went wrong with the hole that didn't belong. I even did "the count" as they said....knit 36, do this, do that.....for some reason, that never works for me. I wish they'd had the "place marker" notes for the previous row. That always helps. Words to the Wise: Get your facts first, then you can distort them as much as you please. |

I had the greatest time at "Chics with Sticks" last night. I met a lady, Robin, on-line who was coming to town from Lake Charles, LA. She drives up to do "girl time" with some friends of hers. Her friend knew of the new yarn shop in Cedar Park and I filled Robin in on the Wednesday night meetings. We planned on meeting there. I always get there late since I head home to change and then turn around and drive back to the shop. When I got there, the table was full and I pulled up a chair and luckily, sat down next to Robin. Robin and her friend, Debbie were absolutely hilarious. They talked about everything from marijuana to farting. Quite entertaining and it seemed everyone enjoyed the chatter. Robin had Debbie take a picture of her, Claire and I ---- if she sends me a copy, I will be sure to post the pic ---> if I look okay.
What did I work on while at knit meet? I worked on the 2nd NETA sock. This morning I finished! I'm so excited to have my sweet socks complete. After that, I picked up the Bain Bag and did a few rows. I need to pull out the Tassle-less Tank and get on the move. I want to get lots of wear out of it. The book in the pic is one of 3 that MK, from work, brought to me this morning. How lucky am I? She just expanded her craft room and is rearranging and coming across things to pass along to me. I love it! One of the books is actually a quilting booklet and I'm going to pass that along to my DMIL. She'll eat it up. Making progress on NETA Sock #2! I am so excited that this pair is almost finished and on my feet. I love, love, love my NETA Socks! I am working the gusset decreases, which means I am on the home stretch. Doesn't sound exciting, I'm sure, but it is to me.The sweater on the left is the one I've been dying horny to make. I just got in some royal blue cotton that I need to sit down and see if it'll easily sub for the yarn called for in the pattern. I saw this pattern on a blog last year and I've been itching for it ever since. Umm, the blogster also has a young, tight bod which would be a nice substitute for what I'll be modeling. Maybe I can mail it to her for a pic for the blog!? Tomorrow is the knitting meeting at Bluebonnet Yarns. I've made a friend from Houston, via e-mail, who will be at the meeting. Now, how exciting is that? I get to meet someone I met via e-mail. I would like to be her for the day - she's got a $200 check from someone she works with who told her to buy some yarn for herself. I guess if I was ever nice to anyone that might happen to me. Maybe in my next life. I wasn't born with the *nice* gene. I'm thinking of taking the back of the Bain Bag since I need mindless knitting while I visit with my knitting girlfriends. | | | 4/18/05 Monday | |

| Back to the ol' grind. As you see, I finished the Fall Shawl. I liked it with the one round of brown on the edging so I let it be. I am down to the heel flap on NETA sock #2 and I have 6" on the Tassel Tank. I accomplished what I wanted to so life is good. I need to get a pic of Tassel Tank - I'm addicted to this project.Over the weekend, I taught DSIL how to knit. She has zipped through a partial leftover skein and is onto the 2nd. It is funny how you can see her progress - the scarf starts out with snags and obvious problems and now it is smoothing out. I'm glad she is sticking with it. She says she wants to make an afghan next. Pretty big project but since she's not working or doing anything else... Words to the Wise:The time to relax is when you don't have time for it. |

| Hummingbird is finished! I framed him last night with GB's help. I think it turned out beautifully and I am glad I can enjoy it to help celebrate Spring! Onto more projects! I added about another 2 inches onto the sock cuff so hoping to be down to the heel over the weekend. I also finished a few more rows of putting together the Fall Shawl. I want to put 3 to 4 rows of edging on that which will take up a good amount of time depending on what I decide to add. I'm hoping I'll make some headway on these two projects over the weekend. I also packaged up the Tassel Tank and have it with me in the car. I want to get that thing on the needles in hopes of finishing it soon. I want to have it for this Spring and Summer plus Claudia from one of the lists I belong to, wants the pattern. If I decide that this will be the first/last of this pattern then it will be on its way to her. She wants to sub the yarn since she didn't like the color options of the kit. So happy the weekend is here. I continue wishing away my life. Check out my two boys - DS (16) and DGB (almost 5). My hams. Isn't this the cutest? I bought this at that antique store that DH and I stopped by prior to heading to the gloom and doom IRS cohorts office. Quilt Bunny is made from old quilts and someone crocheted a little edging around him. For $2.50, he wanted to go home with me for some Easter inclusion. I think he is a cute idea for worn out quilts. I did very little knitting yesterday. I straightened out the extra stitch that I caught while knitting in the almost dark concert hall waiting for DD#2's honor ceremony. During work breaks I worked on Mr. Hummingbird and in the evening hours I added another row and sideways connections on Fall Shawl. What else? Oldest brother is still in the hospital but I at least heard his voice. He was very grumbly and not up and about yet. I guess that is allowed or the nurses would be snapping the whip. I did a little rearranging of the norm at the house. I usually keep the tablecloths on those old, wooden clothes hangers that I collect. I decided to fold the tablecloths and put them in the cabinet above in the laundry room. After that, I moved the hangers into the storage closet to hold my winter coats. I would be embarrassed to tell you how many winter coats I own. I'll tell you this - I didn't have enough wooden hangers. I must have this ingrained fear of getting cold. 4/11/05 Monday ~ Non-FunDay |

|
Whew! A lot accomplished over the weekend - I paid bills, moved summer and winter clothing, went through bags, purses and sweaters....cleaned house. The closets are a major pain since we have DSIL living with us and I have DS's clothing stored in my off-season closet. I first had to move all of his things out of the closet, pull all my summer clothing out, put winter clothing in its place and then put all his things back. Not only do I have his clothes to contend with but all the things that he stores on the shelves in his closet sit on the floor of the off-season closet which means I have to move that around to make room for the winter sweaters. It is a major project, to say the least. That took quite a few of Saturday's hours and then I had to do the great shoe exchange on Sunday. I had almost the entire day on Sunday ALONE. It is soooo rare and I love it. Of course, it wasn't all fun since I had a sty to clean and many chores to accomplish. DD called needing GB's bed so I had to make that trek. Plus, DSeester dropped by to finish up labels for the reunion. I can't believe I crammed in so much over the weekend. Knitting/Crochet - I pulled two marinating boxes out from under the knitting machine table and what did I find? I found a mauve, cotton almost complete sweater that I purchased at a g. sale. It was a pretty pattern but it would've weighed 20 pounds when complete. One side was still on a needle but out it came. I got it all frogged. Something that has been on the list for a while. I plan on make some more Bain Bags from the cotton. The other box contained these tiny granny squares in colors from the '70's - off-white, orange and brown. I paid $2.00 for the box from an eBay auction. I didn't want to make any more squares and was laying them out on the floor when DSIL appeared. She suggested that I make a fall shawl. She also suggested that I make some sort of wider connecting seam. Hmmm, great idea. So, I laid it out into a triangular type and walked around it while cleaning. Thinking about it the whole time and deciding that I would like it. After the chores where finished (including washing kitchen and laundry room throw rugs), I finally had a chance to sit down and start putting it together. I don't think I have ever made a wider connection between squares and couldn't find anything in my crochet books or on-line so I had to sit and fool with it for awhile. I'm doing a chain 3 and slip stitching into every other stitch on opposite side squares. I only have two more rows left of putting them together and then I can connect in the other direction. I'm thinking of edging in all 3 colors and maybe a picot edging....or maybe something from one of the crochet instruction books. We'll see. I always wonder about the original owner and hoping they'd be pleased with what I'm doing with their creation. So far, I like it. At least it will be something useable. Oh, plus I cleaned out the office some. I had a carry bag that still held the thread from Ruthie's x-stitch project. I was glad to find it since I needed the needle. Get this - I'm hiding out in my car and working on the hummingbird x-stitch. I dropped the scissors under the seat so I threaded the needle onto my pants and leaned down to grab them. My hair gets caught in the needle and I never did find it again. I was pretty worried that I'd end up sitting on it. If I did, I never felt it and it may turn up in the autopsy. Maybe you can tell them how it happened? It is just my luck to have this happen to me. Anyway, I was happy to replace the needle so that I can work on hummingbird some more. I want to get it done and hung for spring. The picture is something that should be on the needles soon. I recently bought it from Rams Wool and I chose the dusty pink. I am not going to be putting the tassels on it either. When I become a topless dancer I will wear tassels and not until.
