2/28/05 Chin Hairs

For many years now, I have vehemently denied these "man hairs" growing on my chin. When others would discuss theirs, I would act like I hadn't a clue of what they were talking about. About 13 years ago I visited with a lady about electrolysis for the bikini area. I asked her if there were a lot women visiting her about facial hair. At the time I didn't have any and was disgusted that such a thing existed. Fast forward to my 40's and I am less disgusted with the people who have them as I am with the cruel tricks life plays on us innocent middle-aged women. Not only am I waking up to a different person in the mirror every morning, I'm turning into a man. Hair is growing quickly, not only on my chin, but in the nether regions. Back in December I went with a work friend and got a Brazilian wax. (Insert sarcasm) Talk about fun. First, you get to experience having hair ripped out of an extremely sensitive area. After that took place, DH and I were very pleased with the results and stupid me...signed up for a year of having hair ripped out by the roots. Second, then you get to enjoy the growing in process and the hundreds of ingrown hairs that pairs up with a horribly itchy rash. So, why this long diatribe about chin (and other) hair? Well, I did a chin inspection last night since I could feel something like a cactus thorn hanging out of my face. I'd been dealing with a zit since last Friday and while I'm doing chin inspection I see this black hair hiding in the zit! OMG - I can't believe my eyes. I have an ingrown chin hair. I truly believe that I am a descendent of Job. How else would you explain: a child with oily hair, a teenager with terrible acne, an adult on Accutane because of "adult acne", a middle-aged woman with an ingrown chin hair?

Since I failed to take pictures of what I'm working on and almost finished with....the picture today represents what I plan on finishing this week. Over the weekend, I finished DD's pink Booga Bag. Except for the straps - I have about another 20 yards of yarn to use up and then it all goes for a swim. I used some of the 2nd ball of Tendsetter Aura around the top of the bag and also around the keys pocket and the cell phone pocket. Looking good - can only hope the felting process will not ruin my creation. While watching the Academy Awards (a first for Ms. Non-TV Watcher), I worked on the straps.

This morning I worked on the crochet afghan and knocked out another large square. I can't wait to see how pretty this turns out. I hope it'll keep DSIL warm and feeling loved.

Words to the Wise: Burnt toast is good for you. It cures forgetfullness.

2/25/05 I made it to Friday....Barely

Is this cat not hilarious? I apologize to whoever I stole this image from - I thought I did a copy/paste of your site to give credit but...well, I am not as intelligent as I claim.

The afghan is on hold. I ran out of the lighter green color :-( I guess the afghan took more of that color than the pattern called for and of course, I have more than necessary of the two other colors. I stopped by HL to grab another and guess what!? No such dog in their stash. I'm going to check out WM and if that fails, I'll be checking on-line.

Not wanting to be idle, I started another project. I picked up a skein of a brilliant pink color of Alafoss Lopi and started a Booga Bag for DD. I have plenty of the lopi plus a skein of the Trendsetter Aura in pink and I think they will go together splendidly. This bag will match the beauty of a scarf I made her which you can see here: Pink Aura Scarf . I have another 13 rows to complete the bottom and then I'll be starting up the sides.

What is on the agenda for this weekend, you ask? Well, I'm hoping DH is up for getting a fire going tonight. I've already knocked out my 3x/week workouts so I'm ready to sit on my butt and relax tonight. I need to do some serious housecleaning and bill paying over the weekend. Been doing a half-azzed job the past couple of weeks but I feel like I'm on the upswing of my moodiness. Crazy how I go through these peaks and valleys of cleaning goodness. I get in a funk and don't clean thoroughly which only makes me feel worse. I've now gotten to the point that I cannot stand the clutter in my house. I also need to run the carpet cleaner again.

I have an interview on Monday with the guy from Houston! I don't know where or what time - he's supposed to let me know. I'm hoping he'll allow me to mentor down in Houston for a couple of weeks. That will help me to familiarize myself with all the company offers and also to see the direction they're wanting me to go with the sales.

2/24/05 Thursday
Feeling a little less grumpy today. I bet the world is cheering.

Still plugging away at the afghan. As you'll notice with the bar status above - I'm now 80% finished with the afghan which already accounts for the 5% I save for the putting together + border. Out of 156 squares, I have completed 133. I don't finish many during the day so it has been slow go and I only get one or two completed in the evenings. IF I dedicate the evening to crocheting. Who has the time to dedicate entire evenings? Huh?

Once I finish the afghan, I need to decide what to work on next. I'm thinking of starting the "hush-hush gift" in the evenings and having a traveling project. I need to look through the wanna-bes list and see if something would fit the category. My entire life of to-dos never seems to end. I want time to clean my office AGAIN so that I could look through stash and come up with some more ideas.

Wondering where I've been? I thought this was cool:

2/22/04 Nuttin' Much
Nuttin' much to post - been plugging away at the Crochet Afghan - as you see -> 77% complete. I save 5% of the 100% for the putting together and border. Only have 28 more squares to complete.

What else is going on in my life, you ask? Well, got a physical yesterday which included an EKG and 2 chest x-rays. He's sending me for a Dexascan and a walking stress test. He did blood work, too. The EKG & chest x-rays are good. I'll have to wait for the blood results, obviously.

Stayed home after that. Dealing with a lot and just needing it so I don't have a nervous breakdown. Stop the world....kind of day.

GB has pink eye and a nice sized fever. Poor guy.

I should have an aghan photo to share this week.

Sorry - short and sweet. In a mood.

2/18/05 Friday! Yipee!

I don't have anything to show since I've been plugging away at DSIL's crochet afghan. I thought it would be ok to bring to work for breaks but I soon found out why I don't use this as my portable, at work project. It took me all day yesterday to do one of the small squares. Today it stayed home and I plan on reading during my breaks. I'm on page 100 of Nora - the book I posted about earlier. Still a fairly dry story but I want to finish it because I want to know who these people were and what happens to them. I've done this with several books - very little interest to me but I just want to know what happens to the people or characters.

What are my plans for the weekend? Well, since I knocked out my 3x/week workout sessions - I get to go straight home. I'm hoping it isn't drizzling too bad so that we can do firepit. I've been looking forward to having a few beverages and relaxing around the fire. Tomorrow I plan on heading to San Marcos to see Melba's oil paintings at the gallery. Maybe DSIL and I will stop at that antique store and the malt shop that serves good burgers. I need a road trip. I'm itchy. I also need to update the checkbook - Mrs. Procrastinator has been visiting me again. I also need to knock out a blanket for Charlotte so that I can give her and Margo their gifts next week.

Notice the pics of the precious babies? These are the niece and nephew of a co-worker. They were born 6 weeks early. Jackson Dayne arrived at 2:13pm on Tuesday, Feb 15, weighing in at 4 lbs and 12 ounces and measuring 18.25 inches. Parker Lynn (female) arrived at 2:14pm on Tuesday, Feb 15, weighing in at 3 lbs and 13 ounces and measuring 17.5 inches. The babies are now settled into the NICU and are doing very well. They have IVs for nutrients and antibiotics. However, they are not requiring any O2 at this time. No decision on how long they will remain in NICU. Doesn't this give us reason to keep going? The weirdest thing to me.....here they are 6 weeks early and weight 2-3 pounds heavier than my son and you cannot see the bone structure of their heads. Guess that shows what a bonehead of a son I bore. Guess that is why DH calls him Hammer Head.

Ok - here's a portrait of me - according to the quiz.

2/16/05 Wednesday

Heeeerrreeee they are! They head out in the mail today, on their way to keep Sean's feet warm. I guess I now need to get back to working on my faux, mink shawl and the crochet afghan that I'm making for DSIL.

I know you're wondering - did I, in fact, have to go buy another skein of yarn for the slipper sox? Nope - I had about a foot of yarn left. 2/14/05 Happy Valentine's Day!
So, what's all this? These are pictures of the guest bathroom getting new clothing. DH decided that it was time. I am loving the transformation. I'm a brown girl - not really into pastels on my walls and floors. DH & I spent hours yesterday hanging the wallpaper. I like the fact that no tool exists to cut wet paper - makes it much more interesting to deal with curse words during the long azz job. It is up and it is over. We still have to put up the border and finish the trim. DH says that is the easy part.

So, what is this last pic? That is DB Donnie's boy's first slipper sock. I'm on the last stretch on sock number two and hoping I don't have to run for another skein. If so, I'll have $16 in these puppies.

Today is pizza, appetizer and dessert day at work. One of the UG advisors is buying us pizza and everyone is bringing either an appetizer or a dessert. I brought a frozen mocha dessert made from chocolate, whipped topping, cream cheese, instant coffee, oreos and pecans. Yummy oreo and pecan crust with the cool whip, coffee, and cream cheese folded together. I also made one for home and we enjoyed it last night. I made it in a heart shaped pan so I could share the love with the love handles.

Hoping to leave here early so I won't have to wait in line or make reservations for dinner tonight. I guess I need to decide where I wanna go.
