11/12/04 Friday Freak
I'm so ready to be home in my comfies. DH says he'll make us a fire tonight

I really wonder why I constantly wish my life away. I wish it were Friday, I wish it were Thanksgiving, I wish it were the Christmas holidays. What, exactly, is life if all I want to do is wish the days away?

Wanna know something that bothers me? There is someone on the knitlist who writes "the" as "teh" - at first I was okay with it but now I can't read anything she posts. Don't care what she has to say - learn to spell the little words and then work up to the big words.

Knitting? Ummm, only at work. Fat girl worked out again last night, came home and ate supper and then slinkied her large butt to the shower and bed. DH & I have been getting to bed earlier and earlier. Not that we haven't needed the rest. I read until my eyes roll back in my head and then I shut out the light and man snuggle. Even the man snuggles are short/sweet since he rolls to his side and I roll to my stomach...not long after.

Hmmm, how boring of a post can this be? I guess it is just hard to top Girlfriend playing Hide 'N Go Seek.

11/9/04 Hide and Go Seek

So, I was sitting around the house on Sunday and Girlfriend and I decided to play Hide and Go Seek. Here she is counting while I hide.

I have to head down to San Antonio this weekend. My friend, Jessica, is having her youngest baptized and it is important to her that DH & I show. I'm hoping to hit the Yarn Barn - just for fun since stash does not need enhancing nor do I need to be spending $ on yarn when the holidays are fast approaching.

Fat girl worked out yesterday. I didn't go all last week since I wasn't feeling well with the sinus infection + bronchitis. My Curves friend, Shannon, just got back from the Curves trip to Las Vegas and she won $1700! She won $1K on $1 slots and $700 on quarter slots. Luckily, she won them on two different machines cuz they have to take taxes out of $1200 or more. She bought herself 2 purses and 2 pair of shoes while there - $500. She brought back $1200 and is buying herself a new puter. Happy for her.

Did I knit/crochet or anything last night? Nope but I did read some on the novel Chalktown. Pretty good so far and I'm a little more that 25% finished with it. DH and I got into bed a little early and we both seem to need it. I'm knitting away on Margot's shawl during work so I'm still accomplishing something.

Words to the Wise: Advice would be more acceptable if it didn't always conflict with our plans.

11/8/04 Beautiful Weekend - Back to Monday

So, how was my weekend? Interesting, fun and funny. Friday night we headed over to DS's last football game of the season. We picked up GB and his Mom, DD, was to meet us at the game. I get a call from her on my cell phone and she says the cops have the entrance blocked off and she hasn't a clue how to get to us. We had seen the fire truck but didn't know what was going on. So, I headed out with GB in tow. I asked the guy at the gate and he said there had been a stabbing in the parking lot. Some loser stabbed his wife, in front of their two kids, then he ran toward the fields and started stabbing himself. Hello? I guess everyone was gonna be ok - I feel for the kids. Geez.

Grandad and I kept GB since DD had to work on Saturday. He crashed on the way home so we got him in his bed and we sat around the fire just enjoying each other's company. We woke up to his sweetness lying between us and jibbering away. Saturday night we ate dinner around the fire and watched the game ------> GO UT! What a great game. It was so fun to sit outside, snuggly in the campfire blankets and watching the game. I couldn't have asked for more.

I had most of Sunday to myself since DS & DH headed over to Marc's for some welding fun. All my winter clothes are now hanging in my closet and the summer clothes & shoes are put into the storage closet. I'm so pleased. I also had a chance to go through GB's toys and I have 2 bags DD needs to look through to make sure I'm not getting rid of something important.

Funny Story (at least to me): When we were lying in bed Saturday, talking to GB, the phone rings and it is Marc asking me to do him a favor. I could tell by his voice that it was super important. He asked me to get on the internet and print something for his eldest daughter, Tracy. I get in the office and he sends me to her yahoo account. I find the e-mail he's talking about but it doesn't sound like what she needs in order to get in the door to take the SAT. I click on the link and it takes me to another link that requires a password. I tell him and he asks her - mind you, they are driving toward my house and he is red hot cuz she didn't do anything she was supposed to in order to take this test. Plus, she woke him up 45 minutes prior to needing to be there - no advance notice. He's pretty hot. So - back to the password issue. She has no chance to himmhaww around cuz her Dad is angry and when he asks for the passwords she has to give it up. Out it comes and it is a doozy....password: myassisonfire7. He goes, "Hell, I'll never get to Burnet, Tx....I have someone in my truck who's ass is on fire." Having raised two girls, DH & I find a lot of humor in Marc's daughter shocking him like this. We razzed him all weekend.

Oh - the picture? I am probably 1/2 way on Margot's baby blanket. I updated the progress bar to 45% cuz that is what this pic represents but I plugged away on it last night while watching The Punisher.

Kitty Update: She slept in the garage last night and is outside today. I let her run loose Saturday night and all day Sunday. She received her warning and I hope she learned her lesson.

Words to the Wise: Happiness is the place between too little and too much.

11/6/04 Saturday ~ Goodies!

Here is a little better picture of Bubblegum. Outside lighting just can't be beat.

DH, DGB & I hit Monument Cafe this morning for breakfast prior to heading over to Wesleyan Fest. The only thing(s) we bought were 3 quilt books from the garage sale area. DMIL will love them and they only cost us $3. I hurried out of there and DH suggested we hit a few g. sales. What a guy. We hit an estate sale - kinda gives you the willies to dig through an old ladies house but I did end up with this stash of old knitting/crocheting magazines. There is a 1965 Vogue Knitting along with some really old crochet books that you see visible with the b/w vintage photos. I also found a free-form type crochet book that I want to mail to Erica - don't remember the name of her blog right now but love her free-form designs and figured she'd appreciate the book. We also ended up with a cool @ss basket loaded up with loads of cotton twine, a large cone of dishcloth cotton and 4 unwrapped balls of #10 cotton. All this for $5. We had to hit another g. sale to make sure GB got a prize. He ended up with a Hot Wheels shark thing for a buck. Good day! We'll end the day with a chat around the fire. Meet us there.

11/5/04 Friday with an FO!

I finished Kalie's Bubblegum Afghan ----- I had to use a blue since I couldn't find "bikini." Here's the story...I headed down the access road toward Hollywood Video (buy 1 get 1 free coupon) and Hobby Lobby. After 10 minutes of sitting at the light, I called Wilco to see what was going on. The APD officer that got run over by her partner....I was lucky enough to catch her funeral procession. I was happy I had old newspapers in the back seat because it cleared an hour later. I got lucky enough to be number 10 in line cuz the light is a short green. Of course, I met only dumb retail salesperson in the two stores. The HV guy failed to utilize my coupon and I already wrote the one check I had with me....so had to use my cash. Idiot. Then HL didn't have "bikini" so I found the blue in the clearance bin and decided I could do the four corners in the blue (not realizing I needed 4 1/2 trimmed). I get up to the register line and they open another line and everyone cuts me off so I have to stand there and listen to the clerk chat about her car accident to the lady in front of me. As MyrnaRae would say: Come On! Even more impatient when I don't feel good. At least with not feeling good, I only bought the yarn. Got out of there for under 3 bucks.

This pic does the afghan *zero* justice - it actually looks cute with the blue. For my project binder pictures I plan on taking an outside pic of it in hopes of getting proof it turned out cute. I ended up having to make the center two trimmed in blue since I didn't end up with enough "bikini." I even dug around for scraps. No such luck.

Yum, Yum - bought and baked a Marie Calendar's Razzleberry Pie. DH loved it and had 2 pieces = we ate half the pie last night.

Words to the Wise: Don't wait for your ship to come in...swim out to it.

11/4/04 Thursday - Home Sick not Homesick

Ok ~ so I've let myself get sick enough to have a sinus infection + bronchitis. I did finish yesterday at the office but decided to hang out at the house today. The meds tore me up and it really helped sleeping in past the alarm this a.m.

So, I finished all the squares except the very last row of 3 1/4 squares ~ as you see in the pic. See Queen Sheeba resting in the background between the TV trays? Healing but I think this is more a picture of how spoiled she really is. Anyway - the first kit (Paige's identical Bubblegum afghan)shorted me too and I had to snake out of this kit. I'm gonna have to hit Hobby Lobby or Wallie World today in hopes of finding another skein of "bikini" in order to finish these squares and then zip them together and do a row of single crochet edging. Almost finished!

I have 11" on the Margot baby afghan - almost finished with the first skein. Sure isn't going to use up much of the stash but may a little more than 3 skeins. Still enjoying the pattern.

While I'm out getting another skein of yarn DH wants me to rent him The Day After Tomorrow and I plan on grabbing Unfaithful since my friend, Niki, from work highly recommended it. I have another list at work of movies I want to rent. You think I can recall them in my brain? Not a chance.

11/3/04 Post-Election Day

Nuttin' much to post - just plugging away on the baby afghan and bubblegum squares. I need to bring in the squares I've made at work so that I can update the progress bar on bubblegum. I finished another inch or so on the baby afghan last night which really doesn't constitute worrying about bar progress.

Hitting the doctor this morning to see why I can't get rid of this chest congestion. I'm tired of it so I'll pony up and pay my $25 co-pay to get some drugs to knock it out.

Here's a new picture of "beautiful girlfriend." She's getting around pretty good. She still has to climb up the couch - those back legs don't give her the push yet. I'm happy with her progress and even if this is where it stops - I will be pleased. We'll see what the next few weeks bring in terms of improvement. Either way, she's a keeper.
