With a 70% chance of rain on the horizon - we are having a touch of wintery weather. It is a little cooler than recently. I always get the itch of wearing a sweater to work but I know that will only jinx the impending cooler weather so I continue wearing my summer dresses and risk the threat of goose bumps.I am almost finished with the acorn hat - down to 1.25" of the stem. This thing did not make the trek to work with me since it would be fairly senseless to drag it back and forth for 10 minutes of knitting. Unfortunately I did not prep the bag of DH's socks and stock it with needles or I would be working on those today. I didn't have enough time this morning to get it together so I'll be reading on the book: I really want to just set it aside and not finish it but when you hit page 262 why not just finish? It is senseless - she or he is not interested and then they fall hopelessly in love telling themselves "no, I won't do this." Then they turn around and do it anyway. Yeah, what a juicy read.
I wish I had the time and energy to work with beads. I have this great collection of beads, some finished and almost finished projects and a ton of beads that I found at an estate or tag sale. When cleaning out my office I decided it is time to let it go. Beading My Immortal - Amy Lee, Evanessence.....that song just kills me. I first heard it while in the car with DD & DGB. They were both singing it. Every time I hear it, I swoon. Heading to DMIL's tonight. DH will be working on her puter again - sure wish I had some knitting or crocheting with me :-( | |

After cleaning the house, finishing the perfection of the office and setting out all my Halloween & Thanksgiving decorations, I sat down and watched the two videos I rented: Wuthering Heights 1992 - Ralph Fiennes and Under the Tuscan Sun. I wanted some chic flicks and these where perfect - I highly recommend both movies if you happen to end up home alone and want some girl stuff going on. I didn't sit there idle - not me, not ever - I worked on the acorn hat for GB and now I'm on the decrease top of the hat. It will soon be another FO and onto the head of DGB! It is turning out so cute, I was all giggly taking the picture. See the Halloween 'ghan in the background that I made last year for GB? I can't believe it is already a year old. Time flies when you're knitting/crocheting/sewing/blogging like a fool. Sad when you're happy it is Monday so you can go to work to rest. | |

I found this in the closet and put the finishing touches on it. I bought it at a garage sale and the only thing it needed was to have binding sewn onto the edges and a hanger added. I dug through the seam binding stash - imagine that, I had the perfect colors. I added the twine hanger with the medallion top and a button on the top of each side to wrap the twine around. I loved it at first site and it will now hang over the door in my office. Going to work on bills today, finish laundry, vacuum, you know - all the things needed to keep a house in order. The office is cleaned up pretty well so if I get time, I will put the final touches on it. | | | 10/2/04 Saturday Morning, FO by 8 a.m. |  |

| I had planned on finishing this last night but since I lined shelves, this FO happened this morning. The handles came off a garage sale find and is shown on the right. The new version on the left is from the dumpster diving fabric samples. This project marinated for a while because I couldn't figure out the lining. I'm like most - getting disgusted and setting it aside until Ms. Patience returns. The pattern, McCall's M4323, wasn't clear on making the lining so I had to visualize it myself with the help of DH. I think it turned out good. I did not make the pockets it suggested - figuring the pockets could just be the part in between the outer and lining part. The 2nd picture shows my clever closures. These are two stash buttons in similar colors and I sewed hem facing as the tie you wrap around the button. I have a crap load of bias tape, hem facing, etc. that patiently awaits my attention. If you ever have a need, give me a ring cuz I'm sure I may have the right color, size, etc. and it will gladly slide into the mail for you. Onto other projects since it decided to stay wet outside and ruin my chances of hitting garage sales, market days, etc. :-( I do plan on hitting Hobby Lobby though. Beware pocket book. Hmmm, what did I do with that bag that I stole the handles from? I pulled off the handle frays and made new handles from dumpster fabric stash! I like it a lot better. Not that I need another bag.

| So, what did I do with my Friday free-for-all, you ask? I made liners for my laundry room. When I stopped by the Salvation Army today at lunch, I found this adorable laundry room fabric. It was only enough to do the bottom two shelves. It forced me to clean out the shelves - a good thing and another thing off the "to do" list. Freecycle will be catching hell in the morning with the stack of crap I unloaded from the cupboards. Decrapping the house is a good thing.Psst - I also made myself potato pancakes for supper. Mom would be proud ~ die hard vegetarian that she is. I loved corn on the cob night. Potato pancake night was pretty high on my list, too. It rained here as predicted. We lost power for a short time - rebooted the puter which angers me. Here I am, up on the step stool cleaning the laundry room cabinets and out goes the power. What kind of justice is that? There is no justice in the world, it's just us. I have a question - You think Tide, Clorox and Old English will pay me royalties for posting this picture on my blog? Fat chance...or is it fat, middle-aged woman? No, that's me. |

Lost the football game to Westlake ~ according to DH Westlake executes their plays better than our team. I guess they deserve to win then don't they? DS seemed okay with it - he came out after the game asking us if we saw his "deep snaps." Uh, yeah I did. Later I ask DH, just when does he do these deep snaps? What does it look like? Sorry, been a girl all my life and never did read the ABC's of football.Knitting: Well, I'm finished with one of Tom's Hunting Socks and now I need him to come pick it up, try it on, wear it around and see what corrections I need to make. At the game, I worked on Acorn Hat a little, very little cuz I don't like the plastic, glow-in-the-dark, circular needle I have and I didn't have the DPNs with me. The plastic circular needle hurts my hands and it is kinda bendy on its points. Not ideal but all I had with me. Speaking of hats ~ I'm gonna see if GB wants me to make him this little dino hat. We have a 6 p.m. football game for Mr. Poncho Model. Their team is doing well - only lost the first game which, I hope, put their cocky butts in line.Knitting Update: I worked on the acorn hat last night - finished the leaves and the brim. Now it will be time to work on the top and off the needles. I also tried Tom's sock on DH's foot and it is now time to do the toe decrease. I'm hoping this sock will fit since I don't have Tom sitting there giving me "tighter here, longer here." Socks are pretty tough to customize without the model. Gonna buy a carpet cleaner - I've decided. I am tired of paying people to come in every couple of years and putting up with stains in between. One of my biggest hangups is a stained carpet. I remember when me and my ex had zero to little $ and my being embarrassed by the crap carpet we had in our house. Best we could afford but I was still embarrassed. Carpet cleaner it is and if I need the extra oomph of having a profession cleaner come in, I can spot clean in-between. Been drooling over the Patternworks catalog and had told myself I could buy something but then I realized the Cousin Ruthie and the two aunts are supposed to meet me at a big name yarn store some time in January. I've decided to work on reducing the stash until then and saving my money for some trip splurges. We'll see. Words to the Wise: You have to wake up, in order for your dreams to come true. | |

Knitting: I couldn't help myself....I started the Acorn Hat. GB wants both. When GB was asking when I was going to make the hats, DH said "you don't even wear your Pumpkin Hat for us." From then on he had Pumpkin Hat on his head. I dug through two baskets of stash and found, what I think is, the perfect match for the leaves on hat shown on the right. I'll need to dig further for the reddish brown top. It's gonna be so cute!Went and got my hair did yesterday. DSIL & DMIL met me over there and DMIL paid for all of us! What a woman. My in-laws are such generous people. Hal was in his glory doing up us girls - DSIL liked him and hopefully DMIL got her Jane Pauly look. I feel pretty, oh, so pretty! I'm ready to start pulling out some winter clothes and shoes - if only the weather would cooperate. I'm hoping it'll cool off this weekend (it is supposed to rain) so that I can sit in the garden tub with the window open. Been wanting to do that since we bought the house. Stuffed like a pig last night - after DD picked up GB, DH & I headed to Dos Salsas for nachos and queso flameado......2 beers and a frozen 'rita. I was miserable after that - way too full.
