Here's the new project. Ain't she a beauty? I love how she's turning out. The beading was such an easy deal ~ fun, fun. I finished the heel flap last night and did the heel turn this morning. She's moving along at a nice speed.I woke up this morning with goopy eyes ----- I'm sure hoping I don't have pink eye. I probably shoulda called in sick today but I have too many things I wanna knock out today. Bad wallet news - DH told me they have a gourmet food/kitchen supply store close to the house. I did some baking this weekend! I made the Pillsbury $1 Million Winning Pie ----- yukko was the concensus from hubby and I so it is here at work and I'm hoping someone falls for the deceptively good looks of the pie. The other thing I made: Sun-Dried Tomato & Goat Cheese Appetizers ~ way yummy. I didn't think I liked goat cheese but I'm a firm believer in it now. I guess that is all for now. | All finished! They felted nicely after 2 1/2 rounds through the washer. They should fit Mommie just fine. I have to add the rubber to the bottom but finished otherwise. Whatda ya think? The shoe forms are for a size 8D so I pulled up the back so they didn't stretch - only form the front. I picked these up at a yard sale. They're from a shop called "Georgetown University" which I may do some research on to find out where and when they existed.The 2nd picture is what I have to look at every time I pull up pictures. Just thought I'd share my son's interests with you. I started a pair of beaded socks - what fun! They're turning out cute - I'll try and post a picture tomorrow. |

I bought this embroidered blanket at a garage sale. The back was a very thin, snaggy polyester which was coming undone and leaving large pill balls all over the back and front. It is old and way deserving of a new life. I had a yard of purple fleece from freecycle.org = no charge...went well with the light purple front blocks. Not sure why a blue backing was put on to begin with or why you'd use a cheap polyester fabric when you put all the work into the stitching itself. She's now ready to go to a good home to be loved by a little boy or girl. She's smiling - see?I finished the other sock but I shouldn'ta worked on it when I was so sleepy. It came to a point - uh, no. I went to bed and frogged back this morning. She's now working up much better and should be taking a swim tonight. I'm cleaning my office today! I also need to hit the grocery store but hey, I want to get this room straightened some. Guess I'll run and do that. I hope you have a happy, productive weekend. | |

Super sleepy and waiting to hit the road home. Knitting Update: Worked on the fuzzy feet last night and I'm down to the toe decreases so this may get finished tonight! I'm looking forward to seeing how these turn out plus I'll be able to move "in the works" to the "finished" column. Wow - more yarn on the way. I know better, I know better, I know better! Here is why I did it. Hopefully you'll understand. I've been lusting after Trendsetter Aura since seeing a cable scarf in the LYS. I bought two different colors off eBay and I'm saving around $11 even considering taxes I woulda paid here and shipping I wouldn'ta paid. That is defense for that purchase. The other purchase involved wool and they had pink for DD - marked down to get rid of the discontinued colors. No, I did not need 20 skeins but hey, it really was a bargain. Cosmos pink, who could resist? I saw a pretty pillow sham/case on a site with pretty side buttons....I'm thinkin' and I wonder if DD would like that or/and a bag? I also saw a bunch of yarn that elann has on sale and I'm way tempted to check the sweater patterns I have on the to-do list to see if I can use these instead. I'll be back in hawk if I ain't careful. Plus, I have to pay the TV repairman tomorrow since the big screen took a shit. It never ends. I have to take it like a woman, though.....since I never buy extended warranties. If I bought every extended warranty - I'd be out way more than what it'll cost me tomorrow so I still think I went the right way on this issue. I'll know for sure when I hear the damage tomorrow. Wow - the ol' desk is getting cleared off. I guess I did do something on my first full day after classes. So far, I think I have an A & a B...works for me. Won't know till the post grades though. Stay tuned... |

Yes, I've been neglecting the ol' blog. I have a good reason - my cousin was here from Pennsylvania for 5 days plus I am finished, yes, finished with my degree requirements. I am an official graduate of the University of Texas at Austin! I have dreamed of this day and it is finally here. Today was my final in one class and yesterday was the final presentation. I am so psyched.I am about 75% finished with the felted slippers for Mom. I hope they turn out well. I hope to wash/felt/full them this weekend. We'll know then! Any ideas what I'll do with all my free time? Today I decided what we'll have for dinner. It has been a long time for my brain to be free enough to even care, let along think of something myself. Plus, get this ~ this morning I remembered that the Culligan man was stopping by today and I didn't have the house alarm company calling! I may shock the sh*t out of myself and remember all sorts of things. I plan on cleaning things around the house - under my desk is one area I plan on hitting. It stores all the paperwork from classes that I didn't know if I'd need or not. That will be thoroughly gone through. The finishing of closet transfers that were started a year and a half ago. Things like that. Oh, reading for pleasure is another big thing that I'd like to accomplish. I think it has been three years for that. As much as I do accomplish, there are many things on the wish list. One thing that hubby wants? Umm, a trip away from it all. Just him and I. I'm thinking a long weekend but if not, at least a weekend. I look forward to that because I enjoy road trips much more than the head trips I've received at school. Any ideas what books I should read for pleasure? I'm considering Les Miserables since it is on the list of future reads. Maybe that new one about a knitting shop? I don't want to buy it though and I hope the library bought it. Another of my wish lists? Time to work with GB on his learning. When I stopped at Eckerd to buy foot lotion to cure these sad things called feet, I found a preschool math workbook and I want to work with him on these things. I have him on M/W/F so it is not like I don't have him enough. I think it will be fun to play learn with him. He likes it so why not advance him? Hmm, my hero Martha Stewart was denied a new trial and gets sentenced next week. What a shame. I was one of her rating numbers - I enjoyed watching her shows. Guess no one is perfect. Sure wish I'd realized this during elementary and middle school. It woulda helped with a lot of self-esteem issues on my virgo child self. | |

Is it ever gonna stop raining? According to the radio, this is the 2nd wettest June on record. Doesn't hurt me, I've been wet a few times in my life.I'm at school until 8 tonight. Hopefully the last time in my life. I plan on doing some knitting prior to class - at least get started on the 2nd fuzzy foot. Got the ol' mop chopped today. It has been a while since I'd been to see Howell. I've tried twice to replace him - to no avail. I give up. I'll just go see him. He's entertaining and I don't have to say a word. He goes at it like the pro that he is - don't ask me how I want it cut, I'd cut it myself if I knew what it needed. Sheeet. I also need to find another pedicurist. I went to the new place in town and she did a nice job BUT I need someone that is a callous slayer. The last place I went to did a wonderful job with my feet. My FIL just got back from the Bahamas and after looking through the hotel book he brought back...I'm dying to go. I never had an incling prior to the book look. I'm such a water dawg ---- I shoulda been born under a water sign. I have like 800 reasons why I need a better paying job. I'll need even more money if I don't quit saying "once I get a better paying job." Someone's gotta get off the moolah and help me out. Too many people standing in line needing some help and ease in their lives. I'd like to make more so I can please us all. I know that I'll have to be away from home more but hell...I'm already away from 6 - 5. Add some money to that mix and I'd stay away a little longer and possibly some overnights. | |

Here she is - ready for her fulling in some hot water with some suds and agitation. I didn't care much for the pattern/instructions but we got there. Took the 2nd out of 3 tests today. It just amazes me sometimes. Last test, I read all the reading material and studied pretty well. This test, I read a few of the 14 chapters (with only a few days to digest a book honey) and barely studied. Results? I did 2 points better this time. I've tested this theory before - study a lot vs. study a little. I do better with little prep. Guess the material is not the trick. The trick is in knowing how they test and answering correctly. We're on the downhill count for classes - 7 official days...8th day is my final test in lying and deception. Can you believe I'm almost finished for a lifetime? Damn. | |

DH, DS & I headed to the two dollar stores we have in town so that we could search out some reading glasses for DH. He's pretty hard on them so I want the cheapest I can find, that he'll wear. Well, we found lots of fun things but I thought this was cool....something from "home." I love ya Joy Cone Co. and I miss ya Hermitage, Pennsylvania. Hug, hug, hug. They had these and the regular cones - I shoulda bought both so that I'd have more than one to hug - :-) Sad that they're at the dollar store but I did have to cough up $1.50 for them so they're a high end commodity at the dollar store. Besides, each cone has a paper sleeve. How classy is that?Seester - remember the dillo vs. coon discussion we had and how I didn't know what was living under the back deck? Well, when we stopped home after $1 store and before HEB ----- DH had to put a bullet in the head of a dillo. It was laying out by the swing tree and had been there since the morning. It was in the throws of death and he ended its misery. It was cool to look at and he was definitely a Texas sized dillo. I was feeling bad for him cuz of the really bad shakes he was having. DH said his back was busted that he'd gotten hit by a car and was trying to get back home. We're glad he didn't make it there and die under the deck. Uh - Yuk. That answered that question.
