5/25/04 Who'da thunk it? |
Ok, so I had to look up Narcissistic but yeah, that'd be me. Not the part about making up achievements but not caring who's feelings I hurt, self-centered...hmmm, where've I heard that before? In my defense, I must say that I have come a long way in the past 11 years since I met hubby. Cold now? Nawww, tepid is more like it.Haven't touched the knitting in the past two days and I'm having withdrawal. Boss is not here so I'm thinking of hiding out in his office and knocking down some rows. Ok, so I'm taking two summer school classes and I call my advisor - who I've called since April 19th. They put a block on the very last class so that no one can get in and then you have to keep calling back. Today is adds/drops and my last shot. Why must you pull this crap on me? I've made all the stupid phone calls and here I am begging for your mercy...he says, "Well, I haven't heard anything and she is out of the country until the week summer school starts." Which forces me to pull out my ace, "Do I need to call Dean W and find out what I can do to get in this class?" Funny how he was able to put me in the class at that point. Don't push me cuz my bullets hurt - see test results above. Off work until next Tuesday - wonder what kinda trouble I can get into. Of course I won't get all that time alone - DH & GB will be home on Friday and then Monday is a holiday....it never ends.

5/23/04 Dumpster Diving |

|
Some people can't even buy class. I headed to DD's this a.m. to drop off GB's turtle food and drops (Bday present from his Meme) and she had trash sitting by her door headed to the dumpster. On my way out I grabbed up her trash, threw it on my trunk and headed across the street to the dumpster. Well...what do I see? I even had to second guess myself cuz I backed out and said "what the hell?" Low mileage too - only 170.4 on the odometer. Yeah, I'll be trekking on my new stationary bike. Yeehaw! The combo graduation/birthday party went well. The across the street neighbor brought over the fabulous brisket and DH cooked chicken, sausage, burgers and dogs. I made pot salad the day before. I nailed me some fabo cash and gift certs so I'll be styling in my new duds. I may wait a little while and drop another dress size before I shop. I've already unloaded almost brand new clothes on sister - lucky her but my new clothes are gone. Good news on the job search. My friend of over 20 years told me to e-mail her my resume and she can make an executive recommendation as of last week. Great timing for me. She will tweak what she sees and get my foot in the door. The money better talk or I'm not going anywhere. Plus, where she works requires pantyhose. I'm a dress wearer but I don't care for wearing the shoes that require the hose. Just ain't my style plus pantyhose are too hot. If I drop a few more pounds I'll be buying me a garter belt with hose which makes for a cooler summer. Guess that's it - I gotta lot of cleaning to do. Not sure why I preparty cleaned. | | | 5/22/04 No Longer Just A Dream
Me and the DH - baby bird on the left. | I did it ~ here's the proof! I can't believe it. I didn't realize how tired I would be after all this was over. I had planned on having a few drinks but didn't make it through one before I had to hit the pit for a night of snoozing. I guess I was worn out emotionally. I had a nice crew there to witness - DH, Seester, DD, DS, DN, GB, Marcy & Guy, Pops & Mary. Wow - 10 people there to cheer me on and beat their chests with pride. It was a long ass ceremony and I really appreciated their being there for me. It is a lifetime achievement and I was very proud that I accomplished this mission. Finishing something I started.DN - J - a fan of UT and someone who stole my heart when he was just a seed in his Mommy's tummy -----he was thrilled to be there for me but also thrilled to be at anything UT. Such a doll. GB - when he caught up with me outside after all the hoorahs...he said "Granny, I've been looking for you. You did such a good job down there!" Swoon. Of course, no one could miss the big yell by Marcy ---- "We wuv you Mawlana." In case you were wondering....just cuz I have a degree doesn't mean I didn't have to clean the toilets. Some things never change. |

You're a lollipop!! You're known for your coolness, for you are a trend setter. You're a natural leader, and are good under pressure. People often seek you out for advice, for you have great insight.

Back to that in a minute. First - here's the back of "Cream of the Crop." To me, it looks awful large for size newborn but it measures as they say in the pattern. I will start the buttonhole side front tomorrow. I have to go shopping for the party and shopping for GB b'day gifts...and then off for me to grab the ol' diploma. I can't believe my day is finally here. Dreamed of this day since walking across the stage in 1981. It only took me 23 years to grab a bachelor's degree. I don't know why they market it as a 4 year plan. Marketing scheme is all I can think. You know, if you're a spammer...the least you can do is get the spelling correct in the title of your e-mail. Why on earth would you send out something titled: Womna will wnat you. Yeah buddy and I bet they like the dumbest guy on the block, too. Little does he know that the only way he'd pull that off would be if he was stupid AND had a large...uhhhmm....bank account. Then again - it is my pet peeve with flies and stupid people. I'll probably get buried between stupid people - it'd be my luck. I hope they hate mean people so we can all be miserable together. Haha. They actually made me do some work today. Guess it is time for me to look for a new job. I had to put together 5 overnight packets. Yeah, yeah...they were all the same but I did have to make sure that the "customized" letter corresponded with ship to label. What is up with that? Wore me out - I had to take the whole day off tomorrow just so I don't look like some worn out hag walking across the stage tomorrow. Well, I'll try anyway. I wonder if my knitting will fit under the gown? I was thinking of maybe taking a small project...say socks or something and that way if it is too obvious to pull out, I could just pull my arms into the gown and knit away. Whatdya say?

5/19/04 Exitoso! |
I've achieved success. Last night when I was trying to doze off, I started worrying since I hadn't seen anything about my Spanish grade. I started thinking that I missed this, forgot to answer that....worry, worry. I get to work this a.m. and find she has posted the grades and I passed! DH said my voice was squeaky when I called to tell him - he thought I was gonna cry. I have sweated and worried over this class like no other and it is not even my major. Sad..but over. Where is the flush switch so I can dump all I learned? Actually, I am considering taking a conversational Spanish course through the community school - no pressure to pass but enough to get me more fluent in the language. Gawd, I disgust myself.Knitting Update: Up to the armholes on the "Cream of the Crop" outfit for Jessica's baby. Hit some more cleaning spots yesterday after work - I wonder why I feel everthing must be organized? I'm in the mood to clean it all out and dump the unnecessaries. I threw away all the old pizza coupons - did I really need to keep the ones that expired in 2001? Or what about saving every glass jar so I can throw away grease instead of it going into the septic system? Do I need every jar? Or what about all the rusty brillo pads under the sink? Old toothbrushes for scrubbing around the faucet? I know the trash man was upset with me today. Oh well - get over it. Word to the Wise: Growl all day and you'll feel dog tired at night.

Update: Cream of the Crop - got the legs finished and zipping up the back. I have 12 of the needed 14 inches. Not sure what you can see but in the pic I am trying to show the cuff dilemma I was having. If you do the pattern as instructed by the pattern, the cuff shows the yukky garter stitch lines. I decided to do the back in reverse and on the front I will do 2 rows of CC after 5 rows of MC. I'm just glad I caught it after the first leg.You know, everyone keeps asking what I want for graduation and what I want is for my Mom to be back to what I knew growing up. I don't tell anyone this. I truly don't want or need anything except, perhaps, a consolidation loan and winning lottery numbers. I just want them to be there for me when I need them. How are you supposed to answer this type of question? My gf Debbie said that if I don't answer that I'm getting something from PetsMart. I guess I shoulda told them - green is my favorite color or gift cert to local yarn shop - boy oh boy.I worked hard on the kitchen yesterday. I pulled everything off the counters, sprayed bleach - wiped. Scrubbed the cooktop with barkeeper's friend. The kitchen looks like a new room. Of course, I did the mandatory "pitching of crapola." Now I have a list of the rooms I want to hit before Friday. We'll see if my energy holds up. I got to keep both of the boys yesterday - GB and Bird. GB was home sick with fever and Bird's Mom had a meeting to attend. Such good kids and they had fun together. I love these boys - sweet, sweet kids. Bird wears his UT shirt and makes my chest puff up. Life is good.
