5/4/04 |
Finally heard from my Spanish tutor. I e-mailed her my write up for the 2nd Spanish movie I had to watch and had to go in to class on Monday to write about. 200-250 words which = lots of chances for errors. I hit the send button late Saturday and I don't hear from her until last night? 'sup wid dat? I ended up having my native speaking friend help me to tweak it but she hasn't a clue about proper Spanish. All I can do at this point is hope y'all pray for me. Geez. I really think that I am not meant to get through this class. This is the third tutor and I thought for sure she flaked on me also. Last night, about 8 pm, I get this e-mail saying "sorry, was sick with a cold." Uh, a cold? I've had more than that on my eyeball and was able to get through the daily rituals. I just hope she hangs in there for me to get through the final. Cripes!Saturday night I drove into RR to grab a mag and something to eat. Was truly antsy and just had to get out of the house. I bought Vogue knitting and found what I want to make with the cotton yarn I bought a while back from Herrschners. Yummy, cute, cardigan. I need to get the rest of the UFOs knocked out before I start this so I'm trying to hump it. I did sew most of the seams down on the sweater afghan. After cutting out and sewing more kitty/puppy pound pads....I have more scraps so may make another ghan....maybe a smaller one or maybe I'll just zip 'em all together and see what I come up with. I need to clean my office AGAIN. Plus, I need to sew the purple shorts for DS & DGB + cut out the two other pair for DGB. Finally paid bills on Sunday - dreaded & procrastinated that until they were almost late. Thinking of pulling everything out of my office and then putting it all back in there. Yeah, right. I do want to go through my paperbacks and dump those onto eBay. Have loads of chit that needs to be in the eBay spotlight. Need to clean the garage. Turned in my research paper for the one class - now I am down to two test and one final. Makes me lazier than ever. I feel my batteries running down. Wonder what would recharge them? I need to get them recharged for the two summer classes. My cousin is coming down in July! Yee-haw. She told to try the Morning Star or Sumpsing like that - veggie dogs or burgers. She says they're so yummy and taste like a regular hot dog. So, I go to the grocery store and they have this buy 4, get $2 in gasoline free. K - perfect. I fixed two of the hot dogs for me last night - most disgusting crap I ever tried to eat in my life. And I truly had an open mind about it. I wanted to like this stuff. OMG - I was sick to my stomach just thinking about it. I tried to force my mind to accept eating it and ended up dumping 1/3 of it in the trash + the other dog. I called her and told her to keep her nasty cereal dogs to herself. I don't know how she does it. I think I'd have to sneak up on it - a little at a time. She said I just needed some of her catsup peppers - I told her I just need a real hot dog, f' the catsup peppers. I need to start planning what we'll do when she's here. Unfortunately, it will be when is my last week of school. Oh well - we'll make it fun. Maybe she'll clean my house while I'm at school. 11:15 p.m. Friday Night |
Yep, should be in bed but was upset with the puter AGAIN - seems I am always having problems logging on to the Internet and that just doesn't cut the mustard when I'm trying to work on things for school. I was almost in tears over it. So, to lick my wounds ~ after calling DH at the deer lease and getting the puter going ~ I found the site mentioned below. OMG ~ I laughed myself silly. My favorite part is his description of the next time he gets married. Enjoy!
Tired so you'll have to cut and paste - WAY worth the effort. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4146756343 |

4/29/04 Hi-Liter Bug |

|
Check him out! I'm not sure how he shows up on your puter but he is a neon orange color. I've never seen a bug that looks like a hi-liter.Been busy - with school, work and GB. One week left to school - 1 research paper, 2 tests, 1 Spanish final, an oral presentation and a writing assignment about a Spanish movie....then I'll be finished for this semester. It has been a hell of a semester. Today I got pretty psyched cuz my tutor told me that the entire final is writing sentences. It may not sound fun but this really narrows down my studying efforts cuz I only have to make sure that I know the conjugations, ser/estar and how to put all this together with the vocabulary that I need to refresh. Not having to do fill in the blanks and all the other crap they throw in there...will severely diminish my studying hours. Yee-haw. I hope I can say that after I take the final on the 14th. I haven't touched any needles ----> nada. I just haven't had the time. I've been listening to Spanish CD's, studying and going through life. Having GB Monday, Wednesday & Friday takes up a lot of my time, also. I have been printing labels at work and bringing them home to the pattern filing cabinet. I have the patterns sorted into categories but needed to add tags to the hanging folders. I've also printed out more of the projects pics of things I've made and things others made. I keep a binder, which really needs to be two, that sorts pics of my completed knitting, crocheting, sewing and what others have made. I thought it would be nice to keep this picture journal for myself but also to be able to share or show others...especially if I end up doing some sort of work within these arts/talents. I sure wish I had more pics of things I made when I was younger. I can't even remember what all I've made - sad when you've been doing this since you were 5 and you know there are tons of things you've made. Hubby is out of town! I hope to pump out a few more pound kitty/dog blankies so that I can ship off at least one box. Maybe this weekend. I desperately need to hit the bills - I tend to skip that when I'm super stressed and it doesn't help the old credit report. Interesting statement by my tutor, "I see how you are a very organized thinker." OMG - is it apparent EVEN in my thinking? I cannot get away from this virgo issue. I hope they bury me with things I can number and alphabetize.

4/26/04 Monday ~ |

|
I thought this was a fun idea - the top pillow holds stick pins and the bottom pillow holds your bracelets. Makes me wonder how long my pillow would have to be - I haven't a clue how many bangles I own but I think it would be nice to be able to see them at once. Maybe...maybe. I found this in one of those '80's knit/crochet/sew mags that I bought at a g. sale last weekend. Well, I cast on and did 3 rows for the jester booties. I'm not sure that I'm getting gauge so we'll have to see if this gets frogged or continued. I am almost 1/2 way finished with the hummingbird cross-stitch project. There is a lot of white and cream - boy, the old eyes are having trouble with that. Not sure that cross-stitch is something I need to be working on at this age. Weekend accomplishments: outside of the medicine cabinet liners....1) moved the winter clothes to storage and pulled out the summer clothes - what a feat. Took a car load to Goodwill which got me entered into their drawing since they're trying to drum up 20K pounds of donations. 2) Reorganized the binder of finished projects. I have a pic of the item I made along with the pattern. They're sorted by: Crochet, Knitting, Sewing, Things Others Made. I also sorted one of the pattern folders - dumped a few and created a few new folders. 3) Finished the washing of all the winter sweaters. Whew! Guess I'll get back to the Spanish studying - writing test at 10:30 and I need a little more study time. Word to the wise:A goal is a dream with a deadline. | | | 4/25/04 Spanish Evasion
Before... | I amaze myself - I will do anything to avoid working on Spanish. I have 1 1/4 of the pages studied so I guess I am okay but I need to finish that and complete the tutor test.I got my haircut yesterday - we'll see if it something I can live with. When I left there, I felt like a poodle cuz she cut it just below my shoulder and the natural curl brings it up into tight curls which shortens it and yeah...cute. I came home and messed with the top some but said "screw it" and headed to the Poppy Fest for DH & I to meet DD and DGB. We had a nice time - GB danced his little butt off. How this insanity began: I noticed how the wood in the medicine cabinet has the typical wet ring so grabbed some stash and made these liners. It also forced me to clean out the cabinet. The drawers and under sink areas still need attention. Maybe if I sew liners I'll get in there and clean it out. I want to do this when I take a few sick days from work - after the 14th. This house definitely looks like I haven't been home for months. The cabinets seem to catch hell and since we've been here for 3 years, I need to clean these out and see what can be pitched. I did move the plastic food storage containers to the other end of the kitchen. This worked out well and is way more accessible and organized. I moved the travel mugs and pitchers in their place. Worked on the hummingbird last night - making great progress. I'd say I'm 33% finished so I get to update the percent bar after I post this blog. It is turning out really pretty as I knew it would. I am also working on the cuffs for the store bought gloves. I'm not sure I will continue with this cuz I don't think I like the way the ribbing is coming out. We'll see. I wanted to have a car project though since I finished the facecloth. Oh - Found a project I want to start: Jester Booties! I found this pattern in my filing cabinet and thought they'd be cute for Cousin Tracy's baby. I have the yarn and it'll be a quick/cute/fun little project. I have not cast on for it but it waits patiently in the carry bag. Word to the Wise:Experience

Another FO! I knocked out the Reverse-Bloom Flower Washcloth. I still have 1 3/4 skeins of the yarn left so I can make another - not right now though so it is going back in the basket and I'm checking off this project. I pulled out the Cross-stitch project and you can see here how he is developing: I love seeing him come to life and it really is amazing that with this tiny bit of stitching he is already making his presence known. No garage sales for me today. Looks like the monsoons hit overnight and it is continuing to come down. I was looking forward to the Georgetown Poppy Festival - hopefully this will blow over, burn off and maybe we can go this evening or tomorrow. Had a good tutoring session. She gave me one of her tests for me to complete for practice and we went over my writing assignment that I need to memorize over this weekend and write in class on Monday. I meet again with her on Tuesday and then maybe she can go over the oral interview part that I'm gonna have to do on Friday morning. This last leg...is what I keep telling myself. The sprint to the end. I have a question -> tengo una pregunta: why is it that my family cannot understand the idea of the upside down catsup bottle? I bought it so we wouldn't have to shake down the catsup. They keep turning it the other way. Is it that old habits die hard?

Yee-haw! I finished Will's slipper sox - now I can move onto another FO. I am going to work on the Hummingbird Cross Stitch project but I realized last night that I need a small knitting project to work on at work and before class. SOOOOO....decided on the Facecloth and I have it here with me just in case I get a minute or two to plug away at it. As you can see, I moved around the top part of the blog page. I am still learning html and I may end up moving the blog to do what I'm wanting to do. May not have to but with the limited amount of html knowledge that I have...kinda like the people that just close the checking account and open another. I moved the FOs to the front of the stack and then put the Facecloth immediately after since that is next in line. I suppose I should move the hummingbird project. Dang, tomorrow has an 80% chance of rain. The Poppy Fest is going on plus I really wanted to hit the g. sales. Guess I'll be stuck at the house. EXCEPT ---- I made a 1pm appointment to get something done with this mop on my head. I want to find someone in GTown that will do a good job with this hair. I don't want to drive to far S. Austin every time I need a cut. Finish GB's shorts last night - the elastic was the finishing touch. The night before, he just wasn't in the mood for trying them on and letting me make sure they fit. TWO FOs last night. Plus I did my Spanish homework. What a woman. Weight loss update: Down two more pounds with an inch gone from my thighs. Almost all of the two pounds were fat - that is so gross. To even think about all that fat melting away.....I should've never let it get to this. Pulled out three more pieces of fabric for GB shorts + cut out a pair for DS. DS's will be purple and I think I have enough fabric left for a matching pair for GB. Son is having his power-lifting fund raising for Football in case you want to sponsor him. Contact me and I can hook you up. It is the only fund raiser they have and it goes toward field maintence and equipment for the players. If the boys can lift the weight for the cause...I figure I can beg for funds. These extra-curricular activities keep these boys busy and out of trouble. What a good cause! Oh, prof found me a Spanish tutor to help get me through the final. This oughta be a trip - she was our sub on Monday and woowee - ya gotta see it to believe it. Until I get through this class, she'll be my bestest friend. Two more weeks of school and my final on the 14th - I am so ready. 4/21/04 Wed-Nes-Day |
When I went out to feed Alexandra, the back porch light did not come on....hmmm, okay ---> I can see in the dark. So I feel around for the garage keyhole opening...unlock the door, flip on the switch and nothing. Ok, that is too weird. I check the breaker box and see one a little weird but not flipped. So, I head back into the house and hoist hubby outta the bed to come see the mystery. The beer fridge crapped out and flipped the breaker. That blows large animals. Of course, Alexandra is way skiddish at this point. Either way, couldn't be a worse time cash wise and we HAVE to have a beer fridge, right? Hopefully, Mary Kay from work is gonna have one available soon.Advertising presentation went well. I got lucky and had the intro part so my part was short/sweet ---- except for my stuttering problem. He liked our ideas and out we went. Just glad that is over. I should be landing an A in that class. Maybe that'll help the GPA when I nail a big fat D in Spanish. I was hoping the Spanish final was worth 300 points instead of 200 since I seem to be hitting the 50% mark on the tests. 150 points would throw me into a definite C but 100 points....naw. I am "turning the heel" for Will's second sock/slipper. I got to do a little knitting before my two classes today. I hope to finish this puppy up tonight. Last night I sewed another pair of shorts for GB. I used an odd shaped stash piece so I got a little mixed up on the sewing and ended up with two right legs and had to do some ripping. Oh well, I didn't take it as bad as I used to with sewing. I've either grown some patience or using the stash up is an incentive to rip and sew. I will add the elastic tonight when I have GB and he'll have another set of shorts to wear to night-night. Oh yeah, if you're in the neighborhood ----stop by tonight since we're having the thawed out tamales that were in the freezer area of the beer fridge. No way we can eat 25 dozen tonight. Word to the Wise:Life's real failure is when you do not realize how close you were to success when you gave up. |
