Sunday Update
The first pic shows the beads I got for 50% off at Hobby Lobby. The silver hooks are for cell phone holders I may make and felt for DD, DSeester & Myself. I like the hook and think it will come in handy. Notice the thing on the top right? That is a place marker which is magnetic. All of this was on clearance. Oh ~ the letter beads are "B" for GB Brendan and "R" for my man plus two beads with different colored moons on the sides of the square beads. These beads are metal and I'll thinka sumpsing to make with them for Nikki and I.

Then we have a picture of my beautiful friend, Lexi - she's cleaning up for her photo shoot. Purrrr....

And this is ode to Fred - my polish stepfather. I found this so hilarious - laughing outloud in the bathroom is not a cute thing.

See where I've upped the % on the Frog socks? Worked on them over at Seester's house today. It is still a trick to slide them onto GB's feet - I've got to figure out a better cast on or more give in the ankle - SUMPSING!

WOW! No wonder I am Overwhelmed!
Looks like I have let it all get out of hand. Yesterday I decided to clean up my office and find all my UFOs. I hope I have found all of them because as you see above ---- 10? Yes, 10. Being a virgo this does not sit well with me. I have only been doing this in the last year or so. I guess it resembles my discombobulated mood at the time with having so much to do and not knowing where to start. I have numerous ideas of things I want to start but I MUST knock out some of these before I begin new ones.

I wonder what project I should take over to seester's house today? Probably Randy's socks or maybe the slippers - maybe both. I still need to study my Spanish. I put it off yesterday because when I started looking it over, I have a few things with some questions. I called my friends and they have yet to call me back. Learning proper Spanish does not lend itself to very much help because you throw the Spanish speakers into a tizzy and all they can do is keep repeating the word and never come up with an answer. It is like taking Calculus and trying to ask a math genius how to do something with your Calculus. You're wasting your breath and I know this every time I ask - but I do it in hopes that they will say something that gives me a hint of what I should do. Here is one of my questions - I am trying to say that "On account of being burned out with my studies..." This is not a permament condition so I don't think I should use the verb SER. So, what form of estar should I use? Ok - here is another ~ I want to say that I am overwhelmed. Can I change this to a feminine version - abruma or must it stay abrumo? Yeah, here I sit.

I did get the house picked up fairly well. I still need to run the vacuum but the laundry is finished and put away. We had a great meal last night, too. Hubby cooked burgers on the grill and grilled/heated a smoked turkey leg for me. I made potato salad and baked beans. All was very yummy. Hubby and I dragged around, ran DS home and then showered and slept. I am pretty sore today so I know I overdid some of the cleaning but oh well. Fat girl needs the exercise.

I need to hit my closet - clean out the "not worn this year" and move the summer clothes into the closet and put up the winter clothes. The list never ends - guess that is what gives me a reason to live.

I frogged the Kildarro sweater I bought off eBay. I had it there to finish but I will never wear a 100% itchy wool sweater so undid it came. I only frogged enough to get rid of the attached balls - will do the rest later. I'm going to use this yarn to make something felted. Yeah, another project. Good grief. And I had the nerve to be checking out eBay last night for yarn. Where did I put that bullet?

Bargain of the Day
Don't Be Hatin'
What a deal! Got all this for a buck! Can you see the set of wooden ones in the front? One of the sets are turned wood on the ends and the other set is Clover brand. I need to add these to my needles stash and go through what I've got and donate to seester. There were several crodering hooks in there too which will probably go to seester too. The cotton may head north to Cousin Ruthie since she is the dishcloth queen. Too bad about the pink salmon colored sweater - there isn't a pattern to go with or I'd seriously consider finishing. That may be a frog project for me unless I can look it over and just finish as I'd please since it is 9/10ths finished. May not since I don't understand why anyone would want a sweater made from dishcloth cotton.

That's it for now cuz DS just got outta the shower and he'll want the computer and I need to hit the cleaning, laundry and studying. Heading to Seester's house tomorrow so I've got a lot to knock out.

3/28/04 Sunday Siesta

Been busy studying for my Spanish presentation tomorrow. Yikes! Plus the teacher and other students present must ask a question about the presentation and I have to answer. Yeah, that'll be cute. In between the studying, I always take breaks so that I'm inspired to hit the books again. So.....

I turned these

into this!

These are squares I cut from sweaters I liked but didn't look right on me. Today I: cut the squares and sewed the squares into a blanket. I haven't come up with a plan for the edging and possibly a back. I'm still thinking that one through. Some of these squares are already felted - "oops" sweaters - that I picked up at garage sales or thrift stores. I think this will be used more than any ol' sweater anyway. I still have to sew down the seams, too. I don't like for them to push up like they do. When I finish this, I will take a picture in natural light to show the true colors in this blanket. The greys you see now are actually brown.

Anyone willing to come clean up this house since I've neglected it by studying, cutting and sewing?!

3/26/04 Oh, It's Saturday...
Scheck out my grandbaby's artwork. It must be the image he gets when taking a shower with Granny.

And then we have the update on the afghan:

Last night when I was working on it, I started to like it. I've decided to continue plugging away on it and I'm glad it has become dear to me after all. I guess it grew on me and now that it is getting bigger...not so bad after all.

And don't hate me cuz I have a replica of me to take picture shoots of any hats I might make:

She even has the realistic white hairs which certainly could be a stand-in for me. My son just shakes his head at me when I pick up these things at garage sales. We hit them hard this a.m. - me, hubby, son and mom-in-law. We also hit the quilt show which was a big ooooh & aaaah fest for MIL. My silly ass son sat in on the demonstrations and learned how to applique so if you have any questions....he's the man. Hubby was saying that they were probably telling themselves "it makes it all worth it to have our young minds interested - just a shame he's gay." Yeah, DS laughed at that one. He's just taking in anything he can. When we were at the quilt show about 10 minutes he told hubby, "It sure doesn't take long for something like this to get old." Such a silly boy.

Guess I'll hit it since I have the mountain pile of laundry I need to hit. Lucky me.

3/25/04 Don't be a hater...
just cuz Baby Ruthie ♥loves♥ me best. I am the lucky recipient of her 2nd redwork design - althought this is really purplework. I love him! I don't have a lot of Easter things so this is just fabulous!

And she sent me this...a girl after my own heart. She rescued this (along with some doilies) from a thrift store. I can't believe someone would give these to the thrift store. Of course, her and I are feeling bad for some old lady that worked for months, dies and then someone gives these away. Ruthie is such a sweetie - she washed and ironed this before sending to me.

Making some progress on the Hoover blanket - I'll post an updated pic over the weekend. I keep vacillating between continuing or frogging the whole thing. Oh well, it's keeping me out of the bingo halls. Bad part is I just received more cotton yarn for a tank - yeah, need to hit it so I can wear it this summer. Guess fat girl is gonna have to keep hitting Curves if she wants to go sleeveless.

Did a few more rows on the afghan, no sewing...took the Spanish writing test/assignment in class yesterday. I always walk away second guessing what I wrote. I hope I did well cuz I'm at a 70 right now in that class - hanging on by my toenails. I just hate the volume of work - I have a vocab test on Friday with homework due and on Wednesday we start the next set of asking/answering questions with profs/students to get signatures. It is a never ending assignment in that class. 6 more weeks after this one....counting down. Speaking of that - need to go order my cap/gown and announcements. Just not wanting to cough up the $ for it all.

Had a good time with DGB last night. Took him to Bealls and bought him a pair of tennies & sandals since I had two 25% off coupons. After that we stopped at McD's and he played while I bought his dinner. He promised to eat every bite and surprisingly - he did! We played puzzle and he learned how to recognize an edge and a corner. Constantly learning at this age.

The house is so nice and clean - makes me want to hang out there instead of be at work/school. Unfortunately, it makes me realize how bad I need to get to those cupboards. What a mess. More time - can I buy some?

Good news back on the mammogram.....was worried when the nurse and I kept missing each other's call. Especially when she was the one initiating contact. Yikes - I had that scare last time when they sent me back in but all is well on the breast front. My udders are good for another year.

Words to the wise:You're still a flower, even if you're not in the vase.
