create your own visited states map

These are the states I've been to....the world according to me. As you see, I've hit the states from PA to TX several ways - plus my visits to Mom in Florida and the one flight to California to act up with C Tiffy Go.....

Speaking of trips...seester is a trip and we're also planning one. Well, we're hoping to if someone will loan us a credit card. We need to buy our tix and then we'll be set for May. Gotta get outta town so we can act out. Maybe one of these days we'll grow up but until then ~ we'll zip outta here and be bad where no one knows our name.

Last night I cut out the other leg to DS's jams - don't think I'll get time to sew them tonight since I'll have DGB but we'll see. He wants to go to Burger King Inside - which means he wants to play. Maybe I'll get a chance to sit and knit while he plays. Precious doll.

Got the new pillows from Adam! Yeah me! I've been craving these $80 pillows since I visited Linens 'N Things for the towel warmers over Xmas. Adam told me yesterday that they're having a buy 1 pillow, get one 1/2 off + his 25% discount. Hell yeah. For $98 I got the pillows for hubby and I. They have the "ultimate therapeutic support of memory foam" + "luxurious comfort of down." Yeah, don't be a hater. I'll be loving it tonight.

Off to class.

Boy, those pics from yesterday's post really are pretty crappy. I know that I should use natural light - my idiot.

you are lightsalmon
#FFA07A

Your dominant hues are red and yellow... most of what you do is motivated by your need to change things and have a good time, but you've been known to settle down and think out a situation, too. You tend to surprise people just when they're starting to feel like they've got you down.

Your saturation level is medium - You're not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it's required of you. You probably don't think the world can change for you and don't want to spend too much effort trying to force it.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

what decade does your personality live in?

quiz brought to you by lady interference, ltd

Today, my precious Grandbaby started preschool! I am so excited for him. He will turn 4 in May but in the mean time they will introduce him to the structured learning environment of the 4 year olds...sitting at the table, using school manners, keeping your hands off your neighbor (ahem!), and all the cute little tricks that we pulled in school and got beat for doing. DD called to check on him and they said he's doing fine, playing, learning and was the first one out at nap time. I think this will benefit him all the way around. First off, he's close to home. Second off, structured environment which he thrives in (how else do I end this sentence Mrs. English major?). Third, he loves learning and projects. Fourth, dedicated nap time. I'm not sure the 4th one existed at his last day care but he's on a good road and I'm pleased. I get to pick him up today so I find out first hand how his day went.

As you see, I've found a few more quizzes to help me find my lost self. I tried to find out what Peanuts character I am but it seems I match none since I keep receiving an error message. Sob. Or, is the proper response S.O.B.?

Working on the extension of the wrist area on the gloves I want to give my DS. I finished one of the gloves but I'm not pleased with the results so that will go away soon. Not as stretchy as I'd planned but the RH maroon matches pretty well. I just hate shore cuffs on gloves and mittens - hope she'll like the extension when I finish them.

As you see above...it does snow in Texas! This is what we woke up to Saturday morning. Little did we know, my two chilluns were out in it with GB during the night. Hubby and I crashed at 10 and there is little we notice once the eyelids flutter shut.

I hit JoAnne Fabric today - sad. I need to have my hands slapped. I went there with the intention of picking up more fleece to match the remnants I'm attempting to turn into a pair of jams for DS. I needed one more yard since I didn't preplan and notice that I'd have to squeeze out four sides and two pockets. I glanced at the fabric and thought "awww, I have plenty." Uh, wrong again. Of course, they didn't have the needed fabric so DS will have to live with one side blue and one side sport print. I figure I'll make it a design element. I picked up a few other remnants and the necessary elastic for said jams. I think he'll be pleased. Been a long time since I've used an official sewing pattern - I thinks son was 3 or so. Guess it has been almost 13 years. I also guess that is why I didn't pay attention to the amount of fabric needed prior to just cutting away.

Dearest Mom (not Mommie Dearest) is home safe and sound from the horse pistol. The disgusting photos proved that she has an inflamed stomach. Happy to report it is something easily remedied. Poor thing - she's been through so much.

Any other news...hmm, Spanish still blows large animals but I'm trudging through it. ¿por qué debo aprender esta lengua? (Why must I learn this language?)

Oh yeah! The casino party update. Hubby, Marcy (pronounced Marky) and I headed over to the other side of town with a large thermos full of rocket full. Me on an empty stomach ----> not a pretty sight. Yep, I filled up their sink several times with their hordeours/horse ovaries...whatever. Didn't take me long to bounce back. Sure didn't appreciate everyone asking me if I was ok...I tried to play that off but they said "DH said you're not feeling well." Oh ok, that is how we're gonna play that game. "Did he also tell you that he is a lousy kisser?" Naw, I just dreamed that I responded that way and no, that is not exactly how I would've phrased my response. Either way, once I finished christening their sink and wiping the spittle off my chin...I had a nice time. I did ZERO gambling but that is my nature anyway. I prefer to gamble on yard sales and they weren't having one at the time so I held onto my money and played with their schnauzer. Cute dog - he has a rubber hedgehog that he begs for you to throw - when he retrieves it and heads your way, he starts his barking. I enjoyed the dog and the people. Was a fun time..not the funnest, but fun.

Guess that is it. Oh yeah, it is in the 60's here today.
2/14/04 Happy VD!

From Sweater to...
This has been an UFO for a while - finally got around to finishing it/them up. I found this sweater at one of the sales I've been to and decided it needed another life. I liked the pattern but knew I'd never wear it. So....I felted it and turned it into two bags. I think I'll use the small bag for either knitting tools or pencils when I use the large backpack type bag for school crap or knitting projects. Mind you...not that I need another bag. Jeez, I really need to get a grip.

My goal today is to get my office cleaned. I am overwhelmed with the clutter - patterns needing filed, recipes that need to be in the filing stack, bills needing filed, yarn in 100 baskets, etc. I expect it to take up the entire day other than my trips to the washer and dryer while doing laundry. The rest of the house cleaning will just have to wait until tomorrow when I'm trying to avoid homework.

Had a nice VD dinner last night. I ended up with my two kids, Grandbaby, and friend Marc. I felt bad for Marc. He called and asked if I enjoyed the steak and lobster - he could hear all the racket of everyone being at the house. I told him we had just started cooking and he said "how 'bout if I stop and pick up something and join y'all." There is no way I could turn him down and told him we had plenty for him to join. No, it was not a romantic, candlelit dinner and maybe I'll never get one of these in this lifetime but I was happy and that is all that mattered. Everyone had a chance to enjoy VD. I asked him what he got his wife and he answered and then I asked what he'll get....guess he doesn't expect even a card. I just don't think that is right but at least I took care of him with some yummy food.

Tonight we'll be heading to hubby's ex-boss Tom's house for the casino party. I'm looking forward to it and even bought a cute blouse to wear under my black suit. I think I'll look spiffy.

Ok, off to check on the non-napping GrandBaby and to clean this office.

...two bags!
2/12/04 Thursday makes...
....tomorrow Friday the 13th. If you're easily freaked by things do not bother to click the link below and don't bother getting out of bed tomorrow.

I recently inherited an old quilt from a friend who was moving his mother-in-law out of her house. Well, they were having a yard sale and stuffed into the couch under the cushions, was this great, old quilt. Yes, it needed some repairs and I could hear it begging for a bath. I got it all zipped up, washed and thrown onto hubby last night. It is so happy and breathing a happy sigh of relief. I feel priviledged to have the quilt and happy that no one else wanted to mess with the repairs.

Can't decide wether or not to go the Knitting Meetup next week. Hubby will be out of town and most of school work will be caught up....maybe so, maybe no...

Been digging around for something to work on and came across the bag of cotton chenille yarn with one petal on the needles for a facecloth. I've been using one of the garter stitch facecloths but I didn't make myself a flower facecloth. You guessed it, I'm gonna use up the rest of this yarn and pump out some more of them. The garter stitch one has gone through both the washer and dryer - no worse for the wear.

My hubby's stepsister is going to be featured in New Mexico Highways magazine. For Christmas, she gave us (me) these fabulous notecards which feature picture she has taken of all the many quilts she's had in her life. Really cool photography for what could be a boring subject to someone not interested in quilts or quilting. Anyway, they are going to feature her cards and her in one of their upcoming editions. I thought that was pretty cool.

On my walk into work today I found a pair of cashmere gloves. Since it has rained steady for the past 3 days, the gloves looked like a dead rat lying by the curb. I carefully carried them into the building and when I unrolled them....yeehaw! Their really beautiful and I'm sure they cost someone a mint. The cuff is super long which is what I've been dying to add to my current stash of gloves/mittens. I need to get a pic of these great gloves. What a find and I'm sure the loser is sad about their loss. Me, the finder, am very pleased.

This is so eerily accurate! Some of these hit the nail on the head!

You are dishcloth cotton.
You are Dishcloth Cotton. You are a very hard worker, most at home when
you're at home. You are thrifty and seemingly
born to clean. You are considered to be a Plain
Jane, but you are too practical to notice.

What kind of yarn are you?

Sounds like my mother talking.

Well, I'm pulling in the points for Spanish ---need all I can get.

The hat didn't shrink as much as planned...so it'll end up being a wastebasket or something. I need to post a picture so you can laugh at it. It is worth a gander.
2/6/04 Friday Frolic

Seester is a WasterPeeg!
Got loads of studying to do for Monday...have to be ready for the writing assignment in Spanish class. Teacher will pick one of the three sections and we'll have to write three different paragraphs for three different questions - meaning I am going to have to memorize all 9 answers since she didn't give us the skinny on which section. Gawd, I'm so ready to graduate. Senior burn-out and I'm in a stupid sophmore class. Ok, a stupid senior is in a smart sophmore class.
Enough!

I'd rather be working on my knitting, sewing or something. Maybe I'll reward myself with working on this stuff for say an hour - after I have each paragraph memorized. Rewards work well for me. Staying away from my office also works cuz I always want to procrastinate on my studies and work on my fun schtuff.

Work is going ok - guess cuz everyone is gone. Boss is on travel - yeehaw...and MK is out with her hubby who isn't doing too well. Guess MD Anderson gave her the bad news. I've been telling her to quit coming in to the stupid office and start spending time with her man. The writing is on the wall honey. Which, in turn, gives me and Adam the fag the run of the office. If the office had any idea the things we do when they're gone. That's what they get for making us stay here alone - we don't have to behave.

I worked some more on the hat last night and I'm not on the brim! I should be felting this puppy tomorrow. Hubby is worried that it won't shrink as much as we're hoping ---- I need to remember to measure and the parts so that I'll know what I need to change for the next go round in black. I'm hoping it pops out perfect.....I'll know soon.

Other than that, I lead a boring ass life. Nothing is going on other than work and school and a little knitting or crodering. Maybe a few sales on eBay - not that it has helped since I had to go out and buy $1K worth of clothes for hubby. Fauque! I guess I'm just meant to be in debt for the rest of my life. We had a guest speaker in one of my classes today - he is some big cheese at the huge conglomerate radio stations schmole...and I guess I'll have to be in sales to make the big bucks and work very little. Yeah, I've changed the game plan and sales it is. Whatever it takes - maybe I can sell some eBay shit while I'm out and about.
2/5/04 Thursday
Almost there folks...the weekend is looming. As you see underneath my "page hits counter," I am about 85% finished with the top hat I'm making for hubby. This is a major test for me since I have no idea how much it will shrink with felting. I've frogged this project so many times, I hope this will work and then I can make him one in black. It makes my hand hurt to crochet this rough wool, 2 stranded --- ready to move onto something easier on the hand.

I'm back to my insanity:

Are you damned?

You're coming back! And if you are a Hindu you are going to have very specific characteristics:

"The slayer of a woman and the destroyer of embryos becomes a savage full of diseases; who commits illicit intercourse, a eunuch; who goes with his teacher's wife, disease-skinned. The eater of flesh becomes very red; the drinker of intoxicants, one with discolored teeth...." (Garuda Purana)

Didn't understand more than half the questions on this one:

Which Famous Homosexual are you?
Brought to you by Rum and Monkey

And this one...I answered no to everything and I end up with my hero! He cracks me up - I would love to talk to him over a margarita.

Which Peeg are you?
Brought to you by Rum and Monkey

I've enjoyed reading all the different knitlist email messages and all the different knitting blogs. I notice that a lot of people who knit also have a cat. I seriously wonder if my cat has lost her mind. The other day when I was leaving for work - mind you: it is dark outside, a little after 6 a.m. and quite chilly. I think she's being all sweet cuz she won't leave me alone so I stop and pet her and let her rub all over me (as I become haired) for about 3 minutes. The little snot flops onto her back, digging her nails and teeth into my ankle. She didn't break the skin but hello? So, I asked Adam from work about this and he tells me it is love bites. Ok, I'll bite - maybe so. Last night, I'm lying on the couch gabbing with Cousin Ruthie and Murray is on the arm of the couch by my feet. I wiggle my foot at her and she leaps onto my foot - teeth and nails enough to where I have to put monkey blood on them cuz they burn so bad. Is there a glue factory for cats? Wonder if a taxidermist will properly mount her in the shape she was in when she attacked my foot? She is SOOO lucky that I was on the phone or she would've seriously understood that I did not appreciate the "love bite."

Sure wish I could call in sick for a few days, I have way too much sick time brewing and I don't have the time to take off. What kind of sick joke is that? You think anyone would notice if I called in sick the entire week of spring break? Sheeeet - all this for 2%? I have started checking out my employment options. Under the heading of Product/Brand Manager in Austin - salary.com shows it falling $63,931 -> $85,988 ---ok, where do I sign up? I want to be this when I grow up!! I promise I do! That would be so sweet.
