12/29/03 Booga J Bag

I haven't had a lot going on so haven't posted....sorry. I did finish a garter stitch facecloth and as you can see...started on the Booga J Felted/Fulled Bag. Yarn - Reynolds Lopi - 100% Virgin Wool. Not sure how the pic colors turn out for you but the bottom is purple and the sides are a sage green and bright red with 2 rows of the purple between. Is coming along fine and hope to finish today or tomorrow. I finished all the wash yesterday so have that available for the fulling process.

Sat with Mommie last night and watched a lot of animal programs and Cops. The boys were watching football and since she can't do any type of needlework since the stroke...she was sitting there staring into space. I didn't feel it would be very fair to have her sit there so I took her into the office and we watched her programs. She enjoyed that. I told her that when she gets home to have them hook up a TV for her to use when they watch something she doesn't want to see. She's never been much of a TV watcher but she doesn't really have much to do without the use of her right hand. Hopefully that will improve with the therapy she will hit hard again in the new year. Sure is sad to see her sit and stare into space. She's taken a lot of naps too - I guess from boredom.

I have my student coming at 2 pm. She is 8 years old and wants to learn to knit. Her mom said she got a Dachsund for Christmas and that eventually she wants to knit it a coat. I plan on starting her out on a garter stitch scarf. We'll see how it goes. Mom wasn't sure that 8 years old is old enough but I told her Mom that I learned to crochet at age 5. I think she'll do fine since Mom says she's got enough on the ball to do it. After her lesson, Seester and the clan plan on heading to Llano to Cooper's BBQ for some yummy food.

Until next time...

I finished making these...

...with this!

Check out my new sewing machine! My fabulous mother-in-law, Shirley, bought me and her daughter one of these. I am absolutely happy with how this Christmas turned out for me. Usually, she buys us "couple" gifts and last year she asked me what "we" wanted and I told her that "we" want a new sewing machine. Well, it didn't show and she told me that she had priced them and that they were too expensive. I thought that, maybe, hubby had told her that that is not what "we" want for Christmas. :-(
This year it worked out great - I was very pleasantly surprised by the gift. My other machine is getting tired but still usable...I feel like I deserved a new one and felt ready to move up ~ I've hit the big time. No, it is not the fanciest but for the little, pidily things I do - it is just perfect. Couldn't ask for more. Baby sister gets the old standby - good machine to work with ----trusty, needs cleaned/oiled every few years and I can't imagine her hurting anything on it. Just run with the ball Seester! We both benefit with this gift!
As you see by the picture, I finished the curtains in Brendan's room - Mom was having a hard time sleeping in with the sun streaming in every morning. She told me yesterday that I needed to get off my ass and get the curtains done so that she could sleep. Ok, yes ma'am! Sure felt good utilizing the new gift and taking care of Mommie at the same time. Mommie is very pleased. See her smile for me?

Christmas eve gave me a chance to get a review on the cotton/chenille facecloths. Shirley told me that Roni was pleased. I gave a flowered one to Shirley and a set to Kay, Randy's sister ----maybe one of these days I'll make myself a set. I have a basket ready for Seester - I also have a set for Kelly. I need to hit it and get a set made for Nikki. Maybe I'll get a new color...we'll see.

We had a nice time last night. After Christmas Eve at his mom's, we had his sister Kay, BIL Darren and N/N Tara and Sean over for a few beers, laughs and Spanish BINGO. Kay and Darren bought it for me ---- it is always fun to play games with them. No matter what it is. We played for a quarter each and the last round they threw all the money in the pot + the $4 winning lottery ticket. I won the pot! I earned hubby his $ back + some. Works for me.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Christmas Day ----eat drink and be merry. If you do something nasty and fun, think of me :->~

Pleased with her curtains!
Alexandra as Mrs. Claus

Ain't she beaaaauuutttiifffulll? Mrs. Claus is coming to town! She sees you when your sleeping... I think she wonders why she hangs around. She's such a good kitty - posing for Mama.

I would have had these up earlier but the competition against XBox Live is just too great. Santa came early for the 15 year old...oops.
Haleigh's Masterpiece!

Isn't she adorable? What a great thank you! It warms my heart and makes me very proud to display. The love of a child just can't be beat. The hard to see center is a face - she rolled down some pieces of fleece to make eyes, nose and mouth. She's very creative.

My apologies for the shadow on the pic.

Ahhhhh.......the life!

GB Brendan's Ninja Turtle Blanket

Is it the 22nd already?!?!?

Hubby is home - nailed him two deer - a buck and a doe. The buck was a large one - size of a horse he said - field-dressed 130#. It has a deformed set of antlers - 4 on one side and a fork on the other side. He's doing a European mount for this one - not my favorite since it is so demonic looking. Oh well, boys will be boys. Guess ribbons and bows can't be in all areas of my life.

Knocked out Grandbaby's blanket this morning. Figured I better get to it since DS Will arrived last night and also wants a Ninja Turtle Blanket. Guess the fabric stash will be catching hell after all. This is a good thing - room for more. I also saw some cute, fleece scarves (scrafs?) that I might make. That'll bring down the fleece stash somewhat. DD Nikki asked me to make two pillows from one piece of the fleece. It is a blue/white Victorian print - I found another piece (2 total) so need to ask her if she wants 4 pillows or 2 pillows plus a scarf.

I made it over to Home Depot yesterday - I bought the curtain rods for Brendan's curtains and the paint for the kitchen. I ask them about Plasti-Stop and they don't carry it :-( Guess I'll have to check with Lowe's. This is a plastic spray that you can use on tools to make them non-slippery but from what I understand - you can spray on the bottom of slippers for non-slip. I have a pair of slippers I bought at a craft sale - figured they'd be the guinea pigs for this. Have to find the product first.

I bought Killi a surprise - I'll have to get her to model for you and post a pic. Cute!

Mom is on her way - gotta get this place picked up. I have a million different started projects spread throughout the house. It never ends.

As you see - Killi is resting up for the holidays. I had to wash Hubby's love blankie since someone's chocolate candy/chocolate milk face nailed it. The afghan was doing its final drying and I find this. Murray loves my handiwork.

Yep, again and again...
Look What Arrived!

Ladybug Beads

Alexandra Kitty Beads

Tyler's Blanket

I found the gray Alexandra beads on eBay (seller Beadmix)and saw that she was also selling the ladybug beads....had to have 'em. Now I have to come up with a project for them. Yeah! I love them.

Yesterday - Finished most of the Christmas decorating, still have some finishing touches to complete. Cleaned up the house some and decided to get rid of some things on the kitchen counters. The other house had area above the cabinets so I had a lot of filled glass bottles. Tired of them taking up counter space. I finished another facecloth, blocked the other one - down to 3 1/2 skeins of the original 10. I still have to finish the decorations on the Christmas 'ghan so I can display/use. Need to get started on Brendan's stocking.

I also moved the cookbooks to the kitchen window seat. Wow - didn't know I had such a massive collection. I like them on the window seat but hate the window seat itself. Maybe over the holidays hubby and I can look over the kitchen plans and decide what we want to do to the kitchen. I'm going to buy paint today - repaint the kitchen over my break. The biggest obstacle in the kitchen is lighting. We need to add more lighting.

As you see, I also finished a blanket for Tyler. I used a panel of the hunter orange fleece remnant I bought at JoAnne's the other day - already putting something to use from that batch! It turned out cute and I think he'll be pleased - the picture does it no justice. Feels good to keep the little ones warm and happy. This a.m. I worked on the curtains for Brendan's room. When I am at Home Depot I need to pick up a 2" rod for these panels. Even though I put a backing on the sheet, they are still a little sheer. I may have to think this through before I zip up the top for the rod. I'd really like to have it to where we can darken the room when I close up the curtains for the night. Will post a picture upon completion.

And that's all I'm gonna say about that...
Look What We Made!!!
We made these tonight! I was working on the Ninja Turtle Pillowcase when Nikki showed up with Grandbaby and his sister and brother (dad's kids). Haleigh was so excited watching me sew...and she asked me if I'd make her a blanket to keep warm. Too cute! She says that when she grows up she is going to make things too. I had her dig through the stash and she picked out the sock monkey remnants. I thought it was a great choice - I liked the fabric but didn't have a clue what I was going to do with it. One of the remnants was small than the other so we used a fleece remnant to make it larger. With this project, I also got to break into the huge roll of batting (plastic bag proof in background of picture)I purchased at an extremely reasonable price from an eBay seller. Tyler wants me to make him something with the Ninja Turtle fabric and Nik said that Brendan would also like a blanket. Guess I have my orders. Haleigh is using the scraps to glue some things together. She is making me a wall hanging. Once the masterpiece is complete, I'll be sure to post a picture.

Think I'll have any success in getting them to help me clean up this room? Uhhh...no.
