Kitty Worry 12/7/03 |
Murray....Alexandra....Meowy....Beauty...whoever she decides to be today ------> worries me! Friday night we left the house at 6 pm to head to Waco for a holiday party. I didn't want to put her up at that time since she usually goes to bed any time after 8:30. I feed her num-nums and refill the dry food....turn off the light and close the garage door. So, we head to Waco and don't get home until 2 am - of course, I worried about her all evening. We got home and here she comes running. Yeah!Next day and night are normal schedule. Sunday morning I didn't drag my butt out to the garage right away to let her out so hubby told me "your kitty is mad at you." Yeah, yeah. Last night we had to be at Will's football banquet which started at 6:30 - when we got home at 10:30 pm ---- she doesn't respond to any of my calls. I take a shower, no meowy. I fumble around the house - back out to call her and still ---> no meowy. Ok girl, it is now 11:30 pm and I have to go to bed so I can function at work tomorrow. Of course I don't sleep well from worry. Up this morning after 1 push of the snooze button - out the door and surprise the paper is already here - so I head toward the road to get the paper and start my cat calls (hehe) and here she comes from across the street. I was so happy to see her and her me ----- in the garage she went and happily ate her num-nums. Wanna bet she sleeps all day? I left the door open in case she wanted to mosey her bad butt outside... Fabric Gluttony 12/7/03 |
I know that gluttony means: eating or drinking in excess. What exactly is it called when you have this much fabric in your stash? I don't even like to sew! I do enjoy making little things or should I say...making projects that really don't require MUCH sewing. I like making the kids blankets, I like making bags and potholders and such....but does it really require that I have this much fabric? What is up with that? Oh, the stack on left - is 2 stacks deep. Puuuulllllleeeeeezzz.Had a fabulous time in Salado. Hubby and I headed over there and I got a little knitting in....Vickie in Buda (LoneStarKnitters@Yahoo) was talking about the Christmas fun to be had in Salado - that her mom makes the trek from Dallas every year.... Ok, I'll bite since I've wanted to visit the town anyway. Well, it is a really fun town to visit. Lots of little shops with all sorts of goodies. I did buy some even though I had vowed not to spend any money. I found a few stocking stuffers for my son, a gift for my GF Debbie and hubby found this cool cookbook that has recipes from the TV cowboys. We decided to make chili and headed directly to HEB and bought the ingredients. It was very yummy and we invited my sister, her son, and hubby's friend, Marc over to dine with us. My son and daughter also joined us in the festivities. We made a big pot and only had about 4 cups left - I guess it was a hit. Until next time.... |

To A Good Home... |
Look what I am giving a good home to....I wanted a lateral filing cabinet but used ones seem to start at $150. Ummm, no. Not to store 400#'s of patterns. My desk drawers have been groaning with all the patterns + they are close to impossible to go through since you really don't want to pull out the folder and then TRY to get the folder back in the tiny space left. I got this for $45! Hubby said, "I need a 4 drawer filing cabinet." Ok, let's go cuz I need sumpin' too. He got his for $39 so we got out of there for a little over $80. We went to several places and feel we got a bargain. Mine is an old steel case (???SteelCase???) brand so it should last long after I'm dead and my relatives have tossed all my patterns. Oh, and it happens to be legal size so I guess I have to become the office supply stealer again. Darn, guess Santa is gonna have me on the bad list yet another year. Oh, and I got to get a key made cuz I know the first thing Grandbaby is gonna do....get that trusty finger out and push that button. Yikes!Yep, the man in the pic above the cabinet is my sweetie ~ most perfect man on earth if there really is such a thing. The blonde to the left on the bulletin board is my Icelandic friend, Asta. \Warm hugs to her out there on that cold ass iceburg. Jealous of my cabinet? Now I have the task of cleaning my office, cleaning the cabinet and getting all my filing - refiled. Yuk. Wonder if I can negative time this project enough to get out of all the other housework that has piled up. Guess it won't matter since no one in this house will pick up the slack. It'll patiently wait for me. Wonder if cats are trainable? - I bet Murray would be look cute in a work apron. She does a pretty good job of dusting off surfaces that she jumps onto... Knitting content: Working on another Flower Facecloth. I worked on it at the dentist's office yesterday so I have all but 1 petal finished so it'll soon be on dpn's and heading down the home stretch. One basket shipped out this a.m. - to Randy's step-sister in New Mexico. She'd be the one to appreciate it the most since she is Ms. Crafty herself. Another thing headed to a good home. Oh, clean bill of health on the ol' choppers. Dentist says I do a great job on my flossing but I need to cut back on the sodas since I have an oily residue on my teeth ~ um, since I don't drink sodas do you think it could be the carton of cigs I smoke a day? You make me nervous. Until next time.... | |

Now tell me I don't need to be committed! 30 remnants - fleece, corded roy, velour....oh honey. I don't think the lady at JoAnne's can quite appreciate me since she has to hand key all this into the register. I asked her if all the remnants are always 50% off cuz I saw her plugging in the numbers and then hitting 50% which brought the price down further than marked....she mumbled something about certain fabrics being on sale and then having the 50% on top of that. Yeah, still have to key it into the register. Sorry. Oh well, guess it is time to strip naked and roll around in it. Guess she'd frown on that too.Oh yeah, check out Baby Chad's Ruby Roo fabric ~ that is my coupon savings of 5 yds for 20 smackers. Blankie...then what? small pillowcases? bibs? ideas? I hope I get some time this weekend to go through my stuff. Doesn't sound like it though ---- Friday night is a party in Waco, Saturday may be son's basketball game in Temple, Sunday we have to go to said son's football banquet. Purse Update....12/2/03 |
Yes, I finished the back side of the purse on Sunday....had to buy the lining so project went on hold. I hit loads of thrift stores yesterday and found a fabulous blouse that I cut into a lining last night. I didn't have the time or energy to complete the sewing, tacking, adjusting, etc....plus I had flu ridden grandbaby and didn't have the heart to ignore him and work on the purse. He wanted snuggles from Granny --- he even asked if I'd give him a bath! Guess he knew it would help him to feel better. I heated up the room with the portable electric heater (88 degrees) and in the tub he went. Have I got a stash to make others jealous.....fabric. It dawned on me today ---> even though I missed the fabric sales (intentionally) the day after T'giving....hmm, I bet there are loads of remnants in the bin. Somebody stop me! I bought loads of yummy remnants and used my 50% coupon to buy the fabric for my brother's son = nephew's Scooby Doo blanket fabric. 5 yds left on the bolt =$20 after 50% and I spent what? $75? Guess that means $55 on remnants. Get a rope and I'll grab a camera to show you why I sinned. Until next time... | |

I guess it will be a purse after all! I designed the pattern to incorporate the handle instead of sewing it on later. I will have to line the purse and the handle so it doesn't stretch though. Onto the other side.... | |

Moss Stitch Purse |
This started out as a scarf but I'm thinking of making it a purse - adding fun fur to the top edge of the purse and incorporating the handle into the pattern. This yarn (Bouton D'Or - washable wool made in France) came from the box swap from New England Yahoo group I belong to. I plucked three skeins from the box and I like the way the fabric looks. I think this will be for one of the girls.
