11/23/03 1 Christmas Gift Finished! |
Look what I finished! This is the Reverse-Bloom Flower Washcloth which is a book excerpt in Interweave Knits this month - book is Weekend Knitting. I plan on making my sister-in-law, niece and the two girls some facecloths ----wanting to do them on my knitting machine. BUT I've hand knit one in garter stitch and now this one.....now I can put my SIL's basket together. This was after I cleaned all but two rooms of this house from top to bottom. I wish I could stay home tomorrow and finish the kitchen and my office. I do have a little bit of crap to put away in the dining room but that shouldn't take long. I had to go out and buy Alexandra a bed - it is supposed to be 31 degrees when I leave for work and hubby said if I'm going to make her sleep in the garage, she deserves a comfy bed. Yesterday, she got up on the stove twice and slipped off with two pieces of breakfast sausage. Evidence left on the floor - I'm sure her digestive system made her pay for her transgressions. Until next time... | | My Goodwill Bargains - $7 for the lot. Ok ~ deal. My closet is cold. | Grandbaby begging to paint. | Oh, there me are! |

11/21/03 Is anything I do ~ Necessary? |
|
Do I really need 19 more remnants? Probably not. Did I grab them anyway? Looks like it. I saved $30 so I feel it is justified. I wonder what makes some of us do this? Don't know - Mom never did it, Seester doesn't do it. Guess I've just "lost my mind."
Check out the lovely, red, stamped velvet on the left. Thinking of making something for Seester - she'd kill me since she can't stand the feel of it. The lush fleece is really calling to me though. It is so soft and so warm....sure wish we'd had this around a long time ago. It is yummy.
Ok, so I take off early yesterday and hubby and I dress up and drive to far south Austin. We go there so we can go to the HBO Premiere of "Angels in America." This is BY INVITATION ONLY which they're serving drinks and horse ovaries....yeah, nice. We do the name list checking and head in, get some yummies and drinks..........the movie starts at 7. I'm thinking "Ok, Angels in America must be something like 911 and hearing more about that." Movie starts out with flying over big cities, which I love and what helped me decide to move across the country from my family when flying into Austin. Well ~ it is not about 911....it is about gays and their plight of dying with AIDS. Now, I'm not sure about you but I can't sit through 3 hours of watching some guy die and bleeding out his butt. And this is not just 1 guy but 3 - one is a closet fag who is married and in denial, one is openly gay with a partner, and the other is Al Pacino who tells his dr. to say he is dying from "liver cancer." Yeah, we lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes. There were a lot of people there that 1) I currently work with; and 2) I used to work with in the other college. Sorry guys, I'm outta here. Oh yeah, had to buy my own popcorn and it wasn't very good. Chalk it up.
Until next time.... | | | Fillyjonk |

| | Remember the Christmas remnant I found at JoAnne's? Well, this is what it turned into. I figured I'd make hot pads - maybe for myself or for gifts. I bought larger sized hotpads a few years ago at a garage sale and we've enjoyed them with the pyrex and other large trays out of the oven. I made the smaller potholders and the larger hotpads from leftover interior design fabric (g.sale) and some stash batting. Not a very good picture - the large one is on the bottom and the Christmas ones are just a little larger than a normal potholder. |
| Sheck it out man ~ my new garage sale goodie and Randy's finished sock! Bag - 50 cents and I've already got it loaded with goodies. It went with me to the movies today. It is an oldie with loads of life left.
Sock - I don't care for the areas where the color changes were made which is why I think they designed them to happen at the sole....hope it is not uncomfortable to walk in plus I hated the weaving of the ends....... Guess it is what you get for a cute sock. |
