Hymn Sing & Family Fun |

November 2009 is a 5-Sunday month; so we will have only 1 worship service on the 29th at 11 a.m. This will be a Hymn Sing service. You may request your favorite Christian song(s) at the special display in the Entryway, beginning November 15th.
The 29th also marks the beginning of Advent season. So, immediately following the 5th Sunday Hymn Sing there will be an Advent Family Fun Day. A Covered Dish Dinner begins the festivities, followed by Advent Crafts & a carol sing. Sign-up sheets will be posted soon. Make sure to bring the entire family for this day full of fun!

Budget CommentsAs we have been hearing on Sunday mornings, our budget status is still very mixed. On the one hand we are benefiting from some very generous love offerings. And on the other hand, we are still struggling to meet the very basic expenses of Pastor's salary and pension. Further, as evidenced by the amounts below, we received more in September than what we disbursed, but only because we were still behind on Pastor's salary checks. The amount needed each month to pay both Pastor's 1st and 15th paychecks as well as his pension bill due the 1st of each month is $7370. Our income in September was not adequate to pay this expense. However, we must still look for hope. Please keep praying and praising God for providing for us. Thank you again for your continued prayers and contributions. Contributions to the general fund remain critical to paying our debts on time. As a reminder, when designating a special offering, please clearly mark your check memo block with the designation to assure your offerings are directed where you desire. Please feel free to talk with any of the Council members with your questions and concerns about the budget.

Members of the Congregational Yellow Team are invited to join your team leaders—Pastor Mason & Lisa Lenox—for ice cream & conversation on Saturday, October 17th at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This is an opportunity to get to know fellow members a little better, find out what is happening in the church & spoil your supper with ice cream & various toppings. MAKE A DATE WITH VIA DE CRISTO IN 2009 |
Via de Cristo is a lay-led Lutheran spiritual growth initiative. It involves a weekend retreat, followed by regular meetings with spiritual accountability partners.Pastor Mason (who attended a Via de Cristo weekend several years ago) has compiled a list of about 30 weekends that are available in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina & Tennessee this year. You will find this list on the table outside the church office. (The Cursillo & Walk to Emmaus weekends are the Episcopal & Methodist equivalents.) If you would like more information or desire to apply to be a pilgrim for a weekend, speak with pastor. Via de Cristo (The Way of Christ) is an amazing way to deepen your walk with God!
