Saint Mark's Visiting Theologian Program seeks to promote understanding among the faithful not only within the parish of Saint Mark, but also within the wider church as a gift to the entire Salem community.
CONCERT AND SACRED MUSIC WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:
CONCERT, Fri., June 5th - 7:00pm in the sanctuary. Bruce Bengston, Director of Music at Luther Memorial Church in Madison, Wisconsin, will highlight the new herald trumpet stop installed in the Saint Mark pipe organ this spring. Open to the public. Reception following.
SESSION #1, Sat., June 6th, 9:00am-12:00noon
For the church musician. Topics to include choral technique, selection of music for the worship service, how to work with the small volunteer choir, and how to accompany a worship service, among others. For choir directors and organists. $25 registration fee includes all study materials and lunch at the church. The first 25 registrants will receive a copy of Bradley Ellingboe's book Choral Literature for Sundays and Seasons, a $32.50 value. Registration is due by Fri., May 29.
SESSION #2, Sat. June 6th, 1:00-4:00pm
For worship planners, including clergy. Open to the public. Topics to include music planning in the worship service.

| Carnival Fundraiser for St. Mark Child Development Center | | Friday, May 15, 2009 from 5:00p until 7:00p. | | Saint Mark Lutheran Church Child Development Center (CDC) invites the greater Salem community, especially the Lutheran community, to its annual fund raiser to be held at the church, 790 Marion Street, N.E., Salem, on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
The Carnival offers games and prizes, loads of laughs, plentiful food, a great silent auction (from bread to flower boxes), and best of all, warm fellowship. So bring your children, grandchildren, a neighbor's child, a relative and/or a friend. The proceeds, with matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, will be used to purchase new flooring in the CDC toddler's room and new library books for the children.

| Congregational Coordinator Training | | Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 from 2:00p until 4:00p. | | We will be having our Spring Training at Trinity Lutheran in Silverton. It will be held from 2pm till 4pm. There have been some changes made this year that we feel needs to passed on to you. Please make this a priority event to attend. Also, we always hold the Fall Training in September. We will need a host church for that event. Please be thinking about you being able to be that host.
