| CD, DVD, and VHS Sale | | From the week of April 25, 2010 through the week of May 30, 2010, Sunday of every week . | | To Benefit Vicki Harrington's Mission Trip in which 19 youth and 7 adults are going to Rutland, Vermont from July 18-23. They have not been told where their accommodations will be....either a church basement or school gym. The kids will be serving in all kinds of ways including minor home repair; painting, working in VBS type programs, serving at a soup kitchen or working with senior citizens. They are asked to arrive with a flexible spirit and an eager heart to be ready to connect with God, the community and each other in meaningful ways. One of the reasons theye chose "Youthworks" is that they focus on ministry: "...we know that paint on houses will eventually chip off and that stories and games may be forgotten in time, our hope is that the relationship you develop will create a vehicle for ministry to occur for a long time in the future". Theirr daily schedule will consist of morning devotional time, work, evening activities led by a Youthworks staff member and time for their group to come together to discuss the day. They will be working with three other youth groups that week. The cost per person for the trip is at least $300. They are still making final transportation arrangements (why are gas prices still going up???), so they don't have an exact number. Each family has made a financial commitment by paying the deposit and the kids have had lots of fund raisers to cover the rest of the costs. They are currently selling gift certificates for plants from Johnston's and Bucolos, and plan on a "rock-a-thon" in May, and their yard sale/car wash in June. The kids are also really hoping to be able to raise some money for Relay for Life again this year.
Any help you could give them will be greatly appreciated! |
