From Pastor William C. Zima
We are moving from Epiphany to Lent this month. We are moving from a season of joyous light and dawning realizations of who Jesus really is to a season of somber darkness and deep introspection about our relationship with God.

This is the season where we use spiritual practices to help us focus our minds and hearts on the nature of Jesus and our relationship with him. We fast; giving up something so that we are reminded of our Lord who gave his life for us. We pray; allowing ourselves the time to listen to God spiritually nudging us to follow God’s narrow, hard path. We give; as a sign that we are to serve as our Lord has served.

A growing tradition in our church family is to spend some time intentionally focusing on some aspect of our relationship with Jesus. This Lent, at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings after a simple meal of soup and sandwiches, we will be looking at making sense of scripture for daily living. We will deal with questions each evening. Questions like:

         What is the Bible?
         Is the Bible true?
How is the Bible the Word of God?
How can I read the Bible for greater understanding?
Is there a “center” to scripture?

I hope you will join us as we wrestle with gaining a deeper understanding of God’s Word. But above all, I pray that this Lenten season you might strengthen your walk with your Lord.

May God’s light guide your path,

Pastor Bill Zima

Being here is a joy for me. Thank you for the generous, warm welcome
you have given me and my family. I look forward to walking and working
beside you as we serve our Lord Jesus. The Christian life is full
of highs and lows, but we make it because we travel this journey together.
