Who is Thrivent Financial for Lutherans?
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans exists to help its members achieve financial security and give back to their congregations, institutions and the broader community.
The organization and its affiliates offer a broad range of financial products and services including life insurance, annuities, mutual funds, disability income insurance, bank products and more.
As a not-for-profit membership organization, Thrivent Financial also sponsors national outreach programs and activities that enable its members to demonstrate their care for others through support of congregations, schools, charitable organizations and needy individuals.
For more than 100 years, Thrivent Financial has been guided by its members’ shared Lutheran traditions and Christian values. Today, these same traditions and values form the foundation of an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of those it serves.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a Fraternal Benefit Society.
As a fraternal benefit society, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is comprised of members who are joined together into local volunteer groups—Thrivent Financial calls them chapters. Thrivent chapters provide an enjoyable, rewarding opportunity for members and others to join together to meet individual and community needs. Membership
Types:
To best serve the need of Lutherans and their families, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans offers three forms of membership including:
- Benefit Member – A benefit member is an individual age 16 or over who has been admitted for membership in accordance with Thrivent Financial's membership eligibility rules, and who is a member holding a Thrivent Financial insurance or annuity product or who is a member and received a settlement agreement from such insurance - in brief, someone who has a financial relationship with Thrivent.

To join Thrivent Financial as a Benefit Member,
contact your financial representative.
- Associate Member – An associate member is an individual age 16 or over, who has been admitted for membership in accordance with Thrivent Financial's membership eligibility rules, and who has been issued a certificate of membership. Associate members do not have a financial relationship with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. These members pay dues of $10/year to maintain membership in the organization. To apply for associate membership with Thrivent Financial, fill out this form.
Benefit and associate members are eligible to:
- Participate in or lead a chapter.
- Vote in chapter elections.
- Receive Thrivent magazine.
- Order member educational and information benefits.
Join Thrivent Financial for Lutherans as an Associate Member!
- Youth Member – A youth member is an individual age 15 or younger who has been admitted for membership in accordance with Thrivent Financial's membership eligibility rules and who is issued a certificate of membership. Youth members transition to benefit or associate members when they reach age 16.
Youth members are eligible to:
- Participate in a chapter.
- Receive Thrivent magazine.
- Order member educational and information benefits.
