Chapter Leaders
President - Don L. Druckrey
Mr. Druckrey grew up on a farm near Gillett, WI. He attended Concordia College, Milwaukee and Concordia Seminary, Springfield, IL. He received a BA degree from Valparaiso University in 1958. He received a MA degree in Psychiatric social work from Indiana University in 1960.

He became a member of the National Association of Social workers; Academy of Certified Social Workers and became a Board certified diplomat.

He was employed by Lutheran Children's Friend Society, now known as Lutheran Counseling and Family Services for 36 years, the last 19 years as Executive Director.

He has been an active member of Benediction Lutheran Church since January 1961. Served as Chairman of the Board of Elders and Board of Stewardship and a number of terms as Congregational President.

Presently serving a second term on the board of North Milwaukee Chapter of Thrivent after being off the board for 2 years.

He is married to Doris since September 13, 1958. They have two daughters and one granddaughter.


Vice President - Thomas Johnson
Mr. Johnson grew up in Carlton, MN. He attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth receiving a BA degree in Geology. After military service, he attended the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology receiving a MS degree in geologic engineering.

Before settling in Milwaukee, he worked in New Brighton, MN and Bismarck, ND. He currently works at Manpower Group.

He, and his wife, Barbara, have been members of Bay Shore Lutheran Church for 30 years. He has serviced on the Bay Shore Building and Grounds Committee for more than 25 years. He and Barbara have been active supporters of Bay Shore’s youth programs and Hephatha lunch program.


Records Director - Jerold Vreeland
Jerold grew up in North Milwaukee and graduated from Washington High School. He studied at MATC and received an associate degree and continued my studies at U.W.M.

In 1960, Jerold joined the Wauwatosa Police Department and retired as a Detective in January 1993.

He has been a member of Wellington Park Lutheran Church since 1953, and served on the council, as president and as the congregational advocate.

He and his wife Joan serve at the food and clothing pantry at church and assist with the Stephen Ministry.
They have been married for 49 years, have three children and five grandchildren.

In his spare time Jerold enjoy hunting, fishing and bowling.

Communications Director - LeRoy Lutz
Biography of LeRoy A. Lutz

Mr. Lutz grew up in Clintonville, WI. He received a BS in Civil Engineering in 1960 and a MS in Structural Engineering in 1962 from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received a PhD in Structural Engineering from Cornell University in 1966. He taught Structural Engineering at UW-Milwaukee for seven years. He was Vice President and cofounder of Computerized Structural Design, SC, a structural consulting firm, until his retirement in 2005.

He is still currently a member of specification subcommittees for the steel design code, the concrete design code and the aluminum design code.

He has been an active member of Benediction Lutheran church since 1969. He has been a member and chairman of the Boards of Stewardship and Elders. He was Records Director of the North Milwaukee County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for 2006, 2007 and 2008.

He is married to Anne since 1969. They have three children and currently have 5 grandchildren.


Youth Director - Pastor James Buske
Pastor James G. Buske is a 1993 Graduate of Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. After attending one year at University of Wisconsin – Whitewater, He transferred to Martin Lutheran College in New Ulm, Minnesota and graduated in the spring of 1998.

After graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2002, Pastor Buske was first assigned to serve as tutor at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, Wisconsin, where he served as pastor, teacher, coach, and dorm supervisor for the 42 boys that lived on his floor. After two years Jim was then reassigned to serve as associate Pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bremerton, Washington. Pastor Buske accepted the call to serve as Pastor and Executive Director of the Lighthouse Youth Center and has begun this exciting ministry to the youth on the north side of Milwaukee.

Pastor Buske has experience organizing and recruiting volunteers, and through the dedication and Christ-like love he has shown for his members he has proven to be a strong mentor and guide for the Lighthouse youth.

Pastor Buske and his wife, Terry, have 3 children.

Community Service Team Director - Doreen Krueger
Doreen grew up in the Milwaukee area and received a B.S. in Secondary Education / German / English, an M.A. in German and a Ph.D. in Urban Education. After teaching in other schools, she began teaching primarily German at Concordia University Wisconsin over twenty years ago and is Chair of the Modern Languages Department and Director of ESL.

A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brown Deer, she has sung in the choir, served on the Board of Parish Education and is a member of both the Ruth Guild (LWML) and the quilt group. Most recently, she was also the Thrivent congregational coordinator for the congregation.

She has four children and three grandchildren.


Financial Director - Steve Schafer
Stephen Schafer is married to Sharon for 40 years with four children and four grandchildren.

From 1971 until 1984 he served as principal and eighth grade teacher at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Fond du Lac, WI.
From 1984 until the present he continues to serve at Atonement Lutheran School. Until 2008 he served as principal and now is the Director of Program Development.

Stephen has served on the executive boards of
Winnebago Lutheran High School and WLHS. He has also served on the WELS district special ministries committee and Metro Milwaukee Teacher Conference.

He and his wife presently live in Germantown, WI.

Assistant Financial Director - Kris Best
Kris Best is currently the Vice President of Finance at BVK. Formerly, she served as Vice President of Finance, IT and Operations at Jefferson Wells, a ManpowerGroup company. Her background also includes roles within the ManpowerGroup global organization as well as Arthur Andersen Audit Advisory Services.

Kris is a Certified Public Accountant who earned her Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and her undergraduate from Concordia University - Wisconsin.

Kris is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Glendale, WI and performs as Church Organist throughout the Milwaukee area.

Kris (Benter) Best and her husband Ken have been married since December 1996 and have two sons, Nick and Adam.


Events Director - Sara Roemer
Sara is St. Marcus' Assistant Director of Development and Communications

Sara graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2004 with an International Business degree and has a background of experience in marketing and communications. She joined St. Marcus in 2010 and assists in leading the day-to-day operations of the Development and Communications Team.

She coordinates the yearly communications and media plan, annual fund development, grant writing, event planning and assists with building and managing relationships with donors, community partnerships and foundations.

Director of Congregational Advocates - Regina Cole
Regina is currently the Director of Congregational Advocates for the North-Metro Milwaukee County Chapter. Regina has been a member at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church for 14+ years.

She has been married for 29 years to a great man (Michael) and they have 2 children, 25-year old son and a 21-year old daughter.

She moved to Milwaukee when she was 4 years old from Youngstown, Ohio and has lived in Milwaukee ever since. Regina attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (now known as Clinical Lab Scientist). She is employed as Lab Manager in one of the Research Labs at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

She is excited about her position on the North-Metro Milwaukee Chapter Board. She has great joy in working with our chapter board members and the congregational coordinators in our chapter. Before coming to the chapter board, she was a Lead Congregational Coordinator at Salem.

She looks forward to meeting and working with all of the congregational coordinators within our chapter. “Together, with God’s help, we can strive for great things for our Chapter”.
