The Number – TWELVE
What if every time someone said a phrase or a word and you would be able to connect something from the Bible to that Word or Phrase?
What an opportunity this would be for us to reach out to others with some account from the Bible.
What if someone used a mathematical number? Is there something from the Bible that we can connect to that number which we could use as an introduction to tell that person or group of people about Jesus, the Savior of the World? With this Bible study we will look at different Numbers as found in the Bible and how they are used.Genesis 14:4 – Kedorlaomer – King of Elam had subjected Sodom and Gomorah for TWELVE years.
Genesis 17:19-20 – Isaac was the son of Abraham through Whom God established His covenant. Ishmael would be the father of TWELVE rulers. (See Genesis 25:12-18 for the list of the TWELVE sons.)
Genesis 49:28 – The TWELVE tribes / sons of Israel (Jacob). – Reuben – Simeon – Levi - Judah – Zebulun – Issachar – Dan – Gad – Asher – Naphtali – Joseph – Benjamin.
Exodus 24:4 – Moses set up TWELVE stone pillars to represent the TWELVE tribes of Israel.
Numbers 1:44 – 45 – The TWELVE tribes of Israel were counted.
Joshua 4:1-3 – TWELVE men, one from each tribe were to take a stone from the middle of the Jordan. Thus TWELVE stones.
Judges 19:29-30 – The Levite cut up his murdered concubine into TWELVE parts and sent one part to each of the areas of Israel.
II Samuel 2:14-16 – TWELVE men from the army of Abner (Fought for Saul) and TWELVE men from the army of Joab (Fought for David) fought one another.
I Kings 11:26-33 – The prophet Ahijah tore his cloak into TWELVE pieces and gave ten to Jeroboam (an official of Solomon). Rehoboam was the son of Solomon who would rule in Judah.
Esther 2:12 – TEWLVE months of purification were necessary before King Xerxes would interview the women who had applied to become queen in place of Vashti.
Matthew 9:20-22 – Jesus healed a woman who had been bleeding for TWELVE years.
Matthew 10:2-4 – The names of the TWELVE Apostles.
Matthew 14:20 – The disciples gathered up TWELVE baskets of leftovers after feeding the 5,000.
Luke 2:41-43 – Jesus was TWELVE years old when He stayed behind in Jerusalem after the Passover.
John 11:7-10 – Jesus speaks of TWELVE hours of daylight.
Acts 26:4-8 – The Apostle Paul proclaims to Agrippa that the TWELVE tribes are hoping for the promise of God.
James 1:1 – James the half brother of Jesus greets the TWELVE tribes scattered among the nations.
Revelation 21:9-14 – The Holy City – TWELVE gates, TWELVE angels, TEWLVE foundations, TWELVE tribes.
