Devotion and a Prayer for the day January 20, 2002
Separting Sheep and Goats
Read From: Matthew 25:31-46 and Psalm 96 When the Son of Man comes in His glory... He will separate the people one from another as shephard separates the ship from goats. Mat. 25:31-32 Games in school yards often begin with choosing up side. Each team capain chooses players based on ability or friendship. We would feel more comfortable if we could read this parable of Jesus in such a way that He would choose us on the basis of the good we do have done. But we would be misreading it for the judgement occours at the very beginning, before any deed (whether good or bad) is mentioned.
Father, I pray from the depth of my heart for Your presence to overcome a spirit of your people in this Country. May our trust be in You, our comfort and our security. God gave us the protection that we need and the wisdom in these passing world. Help us as Christians to be an expression of Christ's love and forgiveness to other people. May lead us to the greatest triumphs in this world of vanity, a triumph not only of the Christians spirit, but of all those who does not know you so that they may come to understand Your love for us. As Christians, may we express Your love and Your life to the our family, friends and our neighbours in need. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen. Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is with me, bless His holy name! Psalm 103:1 O Good Shepherd, thank You for Your grace and mercy, which have made me Your child. Amen.
