The Board met on Monday evening, July 21st, 2008, at the Orfordville Lutheran Church at 7:00 PM. Members present: Glen Johnson, Jan Vigdahl, Clarice Monk, Luann Komprood, Lee Bohnhoff Ex-officio member absent: Pastor Richard Thickpenny
The meeting was called to order by President Glen Johnson,who opened with prayer.
The agenda was approved and the minutes of our meeting of May 4, 2008 were examined. One correction was noted: Luann Komprood was voted as Vice-President. Jan moved to accept the amended minutes; Luann seconded; no further discussion; approved.
The treasurer’s report was distributed and explanations given by Jan. Clarice moved to accept the report; second by Luann; discussion; approved. Jan has seen to the purchase and placement of flowers on the Slinde graves for this year.
Old business: none.
New business: two requests for scholarships have been received:
--Deanna Vanderhei--Blackhawk Tech, fifth (and last) year in nursing
--Rachel Torkelson--Blackhawk Tech, first year, to study Education to become a pre-kindergarten teacher (a 2-year+ program)
According to the treasurer’s report, we have $1,075.00 available in interest to award as scholarships at this time. Luann moved that $500.00 be awarded to each, Deanna and Rachel; second by Clarice; discussion; approved.
[Secretarial note: Deanna’s scholarship can be given to her immediately since hers is a renewal request; Rachel’s award will wait for her to provide her first quarter grades; normally the award is handed out in January following.]
The date of the next meeting of the OLC Foundation is set for Monday December 1, 2008, at the church at 7:00 PM.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Jan; Luann > seconded; no discussion; approved.
The Lord’s prayer closed the meeting.
