What's it like at Sunday Worship? What will happen when I arrive?
Here is a "road map" which will give you an idea of what to expect when you walk through our doors on Sunday mornings.

WORSHIP TIMES
We worship together at 10:15 am on Sunday mornings.
(9 am June - August)
We communion the first of every month and festivals.
During the service, we will sometimes use different hymnals which contain traditional hymns and contemporary songs and every-thing in between. Here's a breakdown of these books:
The GREEN one: The Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW)
The BLUE one: With One Voice (WOV)
Occasionally we do a contemporary folk service or a spoken service. We also try to have special groups come in several times a year as part of our worship experience.

You will also receive a bulletin telling you which page we will be on and if we are using a song from the blue book we will list (WOV) next to the page number.

Communion Logistics
At St. Paul's we practice Eucharistic hospitality which means that we invite all baptized Christians to the Lord's table. As Lutherans, we confess the Real Presence of Christ in the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Communion can sometimes seem complicated when you worship at a new place! Here at St. Paul's, the ushers will signal each row to come forward and approach the altar rail. As you approach the rail another usher will hold a tray where you are to take an empty glass. If for some reason you are unable to take wine please feel free to either dip your wafer in the wine or not take the wine during communion. At the altar rail feel free to either kneel or stand to receive the bread and wine. Those not prepared for communion may come for a blessing. We offer children in 2nd grade and above the choice to receive first communion class when their parents feel they are ready. If your child has already received first communion instruction elsewhere they are welcome to receive communion at St. Paul's. The pastor will place a waffer in your outstreatched hands saying, "the body of Christ given for you." A Communion assistant will then follow and pour wine from a chalice into your empty glass. If you are unable to drink that amount of wine you may dip your wafer into the chalice as the assistant says "the blood of Christ shed for you." The Pastor will dismiss those at the rail by saying, "The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ which you have now received strengthen and keep you in his grace." Please place your used glass in the tray that the usher will be holding as you return to your seat.

GOOD MORNING!
There are several ways to enter the sanctuary. You may enter through one of the red doors on the side of the church. The door closest to the parking lot will take you into the social hall. The next door down will take you into the hallway/stairwell just beside the sanctuary. (Most people enter through this door.) You will find there are 2 steps outside and one inside to enter the sanctuary. We are sorry for this but if you need any help please call or ask someone with you to come in for help. Or you may enter through the front red door located on Main Street which takes you directly into the sanctuary.
There will be a smiling face or two to greet you just inside the doors and to hand you the worship bulletin for the day. Feel free to seat yourself.
There will most likely be noise in the sanctuary when you first enter. Try as we may to curtail talking among ourselves before we begin our worship, we have many who enjoy to visit before as well as after worship. We apologize in some ways for this, but in other ways we are joyful to see our congregation have so much to say to one another about God and about life!
You'll have an opportunity to meet Pastor Sandy as you exit the sanctuary if you do not see her before church. She usually greets at the side enterance.
By the way, there is no 'dress code' here, so come dressed any way that makes you feel comfortable. You don't need to bring anything withyou. Everything you need for the service is provided.

Children in Worship
We would love to have your children stay for worship. If you forget to bring something to help entertain your children we have bags with activities available. We also have children's bulletins available for young and older children. We have a children's sermon where the kids at times even get to take a box home to surprise the pastor the next week as part of the sermon!!
Please try and have your children stay for church but if you feel they are not ready there is a nursery available but only for children 5 and under.
Jesus says to us "let the little chidren come to me".
By the way, we have 4 rest room facilities in our building. Two are downstairs just behind the stairwell. The other two are at the top of the stairwell. The women's bathroom upstairs also has a small toilet for the children to feel comfortable.
